Girly Monkey

Made for my niece's baby shower. Design based on the crib bedding. Iced in buttercream with fondant/gumpaste decorations. We had two extra monkeys so they were added to the back as "big brother" and "big sister". TFL!

50Th Anniversary

For my parents' anniversary. Fondant flowers and royal icing details. Royal was painted with gold pearl dust. "50" was actually scrapbook stickers I bought to use as a template to pipe in royal but I stuck them on the fondant and they stayed and looked good so I left them!

Baby Animals

Baby shower cake for a friend. The animals and all other decorations were fondant and/or gumpaste. Design came from the shower partyware, but also used some ideas from a similar cake by sugarchicone. The icing was a beast on this thing but it turned out OK once we added all the decorations.

King Of The Jungle

Not the best picture but I guess you get the idea. The cupcakes were WASC with cherry filling and Jibbies Chocolate Velvet Buttercream (recipe from this site and very good!). The decorations were fondant/gumpaste mix with royal icing accents. The cakes were for my niece's baby shower today.

Pink And Purple

Made for my daughter's fifth birthday. I used Sugarshack's buttercream and all the decorations are fondant and/or gumpaste. The designs came from a few different cakes on here: summernoelle for the number five on top, cmerola for the bottom tier and helipops for the top tier. I love this cake and think it is my favorite so far! TFL!

Gobble Gobble

Inspired by nefgaby, who also helped with the construction. Cake was made with the ball pan (red velvet because I thought it would be funny when he was cut and served). "Feathers" were chocolate buttercream piped with a leaf tip. Everything else was fondant and/or gumpaste. Tail feathers and wings were made with maple leaf cutters. Neck was a dowel poked all the way through to the board and covered with fondant where it was exposed. VERY fun to make! Thanks nefgaby!

25Th Anniversary

Cake for my mom's friends' 25th anniversary party. Sugarshack's buttercream with diamond impression, silver dragees and fondant/gumpaste flowers. Orange cake with orange filling, chocolate cake with bavarian cream filling and white cake with strawberry filling. My husband was trying to keep the sun off of the cake in the car with a blanket and it fell on the top of the cake. We fixed it after we got there though. Was kind of stressful and funny all at once....I was so tired of messing with it! TFL!

Mother's Day

This cake was made by my Mom and me for our family's Mother's Day celebration. The design was actually inspired by my daughter's bedding. I always looked at it and thought "that would make a pretty cake design". It's covered in fondant, with fondant flowers decorated with brush embroidery and other buttercream designs. Chocolate with Nutella buttercream and lemon with blueberry buttercream. Kudos to those who do this for a living because it took the two of us ALL day to do this one little cake! TFL

Dog Cupcakes

Cupcakes from the front of the Family Circle magazine. Used marshmallows, M&Ms, Starbursts, jelly beans, Tootsie Rolls, caramels and probably some other stuff that I can't remember right now! Took a long time to make 22 of these but it was fun! Some of the ears melted a little.

Minnie Mouse Cupcakes

Quickly done for my daughter's (who is obsessed with Minnie) fourth birthday. The ears are chocolate and the bows are fondant. I used a buttercream that was all butter, no shortening, since I didn't have to pipe anything that needed to hold up....ahhhh, it was divine!!!

Mom's Birthday Cake

Oh boy....what problem didn't I have with this cake? I made it for my Mom's birthday party today. It is a two layer 13x9 Freckled Mocha cake filled with chocolate ganache and iced in buttercream with fondant/gumpaste circle roses and daisies and sparkles. Forgot to add the design was inspired by "justme50".

Standing In The Gap

This cake's design was inspired by the "Little Lake" cake by Benja. I helped my mom put it together to use for a centerpiece at a Gideon dinner/meeting whose theme was the Bible verse from Ezekiel 22:30, hence "Standing in the Gap." She made all of the rocks, stepping stones, flowers, tall grass blades, men and duck from fondant and/or gumpaste. The bridge was made from matchsticks. You can't see them very well but there are also two men "working" under the bridge. Very fun to make!

Luau Birthday

Cake is a combination of several ideas from cakes on CC. 10" and 8" red velvet iced in buttercream. Tiki hut is two cupcakes stacked, iced in royal and covered with pretzel sticks. Pretzel rod palm trees with fondant leaves. Torches are candles wrapped in fondant (didn't really like the way these turned out). Fondant tiki mask, shark fin, snake and coconuts. Pirouette cookies around island. Graham cracker crumbs for sand and Oreo crumbs for path. A lot of work but fun and very rewarding!

Marshmallow Cream Filled Chocolate Cupcakes

Made these just because I wanted to try this recipe which was posted in a forum by Crakerz01 on 2/8/07. They taste delicious! I also used the Bismarck tip 230 from the Wilton cupcake decorating set to fill them and it worked great.

Father's Day

My mom and I made this cake for our family's Father's Day celebration. It is pretty much an exact copy of klsunny's cake (which was perfect by the way). It is a 9" chocolate cake covered in Buttercream Dream with fondant fence, shirt, hat, tape measure and letters. The tools are candles from Wilton. Thanks klsunny for the great cake to inspire!!!
