1St Birthday
This was for my daughter's 1st birthday. I felt kind of lame doing just a simple cake, but I didn't have the energy to go all out. It ended up being a really fun cake actually. I put the buttercream and the stripes on, and then the next night I had my mom and SIL help me make flowers and decorate it. It was really fun to have everyone helping me!!

Baby Cake
I used the ball pan, wondermold and a couple more to get the shape, with some carving. The board is covered with fondant, with luster dust. I used fiskars texture plates to get the impressions for my quilt squares. I used a clay extruder for the eyelashes, hat pom-pom and quilt ties. Teddy is fondant too...

Volkswagen Beetle
There is two boards underneath the cake to make it raised up(one is hidden). I stacked up cakes and carved them to the shape I wanted. The whole thing is covered in fondant. The tires are candy clay. The mirrors, hubcaps, bumpers etc are all gumpaste and fondant painted with silver lustre dust. "Grass" is royal icing.

Pink Elephant
This was for a little girls first birthday. The elephant is covered in satin ice fondant with a green polka dot fondant bow. The "grass" is a 10 in square that I carved to make the edges more gradual, like a hill. Then I added BC grass and some fondant flowers. My cake kept cracking with the stand up bear pan b/c of my recipe. So, I ended up be-heading my stand up bear cake and using just its head. Then I stacked up round cakes for the body and a strong central dowel for support.

Graduation Cake
fondant covered "books" with a fondant covered cap and eagle. I didn't get the books as perfect as I wanted them and wish I had an airbrush to paint on the writing. I barely got the top of the grad cap dry in time...had to put it in the food dehydrator over night. Nothing like waiting till the last minute to make fondant decorations that need to dry:)

Red Dragon Cake
the whole thing is covered in MMF. I had a little leftover wilton fondant that I used for the spikes and the curly pieces. The "fire", teeth, and wings are gumpaste. This was my 2nd attempt at the wings and they weren't dry yet so I didn't stick them in the cake like I had planned. The mouth is supported open by a board underneath the top of the mouth. I did a little painting and also dusted with gold lustre dust.

3D Baby Cake
This is one of two cakes for a surprise baby shower for a teacher at my boys' school. It's covered in a MMF/rolled buttercream combo. It was good to work with but I'm not sure I like the shinyness. It was much easier than I thought it would be to cover the head with fondant. I used an embosser to make a diamond pattern on the blanket and cut a fringe on the blanket. There's a pink MMF bow on her head. I painted on the face details with gel colors.
