Made this for a friend of a friends sons birthday!! I was a bit worried since characters are not really what I do... but I think it came out ok. Hope she likes it. Thomas is done in color flow and the rest in buttercream on chocolate cake.
This cake was made to celebrate 3 birthdays and it was based on a camping trip at the beach that the families do every year. They camp at the beach and play volleyball and "Do the dune" which is hiking up a huge sand dune.

I tried the "Martha Stewart basketweave" on my final cake. This was a fun one to do. My flowers turned out nice, I think. What do you think, comments welcomed!!
This is a better pic then the one before. Niece wanted something exactly like one that was pictured on this site. For the life of me I can't remember who it was, but she did a great job.
Lots of firsts on this cake. First time working with ganache, first time working with Tootsie rolls for the roses, first time modifing a cake mix. Had fun trying to work with it all. Cake is a chocholate fudge cake with sour cream (ladyscakes recipe) and everything else was ganache, except of course the Tootsie roll roses. Inspired by HollyPJ, but not even close to being as beautiful. She does a wonderful job.
