Golden Path Wedding Cake
Damask roses, peonies, succulents, snap dragons, wax flower, astilbe and seeded eucalyptus top this four tier wedding cake created for a former Pink Cake Box intern (and friend). Modern lines, eclectic flowers and an abstracted swath using 24k gold leaf give it the impact necessary for a young, hip event.
Fairy House (Now With 100% More Rabbits)
We did this for an online collaboration. The theme was "fantasy." The cake features a fairy tree house inhabited by tiny, winged bunnies. The floating flora piece that wraps around was created using an armature and hand made sugar blossoms and leaves. Everything shown is gum paste and fondant. It was a challenge! But so much fun!
Simple Birthday Cake With Chalkboard Sign
With the opening of our retail boutique, we've had a lot of fun with the chalkboard menus and decided to bring that into our cake designs, too! These little 4" buttercream cakes are so charming and petite, we needed a way to personalize them that was just as cute.
This two tier cake features wafer paper decoupage and metal leaf accents topped with a giant sugar rose, ranunculus, calla lilies, hydrangea, and spray roses in dusty purples and pinks. There is a little information on making the papers and techniques used for the cake here: http://university.pinkcakebox.com/wafer-paper-flowers-things-paper-related/ and http://university.pinkcakebox.com/trouble-shooting-sugar-flowers-ongoing-conversation/
Painted Spring Cake
This tea party inspired cake features sugar flowers and hand painted details. We've been getting so many requests for painted images lately!
Classic Comic Book Cake
Ok, so it's not all Black and White, but that was the theme of this design -- classic black and white comic book pages. We hand painted all four sides of the bottom tier, making this my favorite cake all month!
"the Corpse Bride" Topsy Turvey Cake
This unique topsy turvy wedding cake is themed after Tim Burtonâs The Corpse Bride. It has alternating tiers of white cake with hazelnut and chocolate ganache and red velvet with raspberry chambord and white chocolate ganache.
Topsy Turvy Cake
This 3-tier Topsy Turvy white cake with Oreos and cream filling was created for a party celebrating my grandmothers 90th birthday (Nana), my great uncles 90th birthday (Uncle Joe) and my cousins 30th birthday (Emily). My family asked me if I had been drinking when I made this one.Its supposed to be topsy turvy! The cake was covered in fondant, and decorated with a sugar paste bow and stars. Happy Birthday Nan, Uncle Joe and Emily! Hope you enjoyed the cake!
Two-Tier Gift Box Cake
This two-tier gift box cake was for a Surprise 30th Birthday party a mom threw for her daughter. The theme of the party was a Mexican fiesta-ish party. We decided not to go Mexican for the cake - but festive indeed! It is white cake with Oreos and Cream Buttercream, covered in vanilla buttercream and rolled fondant. I threw in a few sugar cookies decorated in the same color for a little more fun!
Van Gogh Starry Night
A client asked me to create an interpretation of Van Goghs Starry Night on a cake for her daughters baby shower. She asked me to incorporate some pink in with the blue since they werent sure of the sex of the baby. Starry Night is her daughters favorite painting - so she thought it would be a cool surprise! http://blog.pinkcakebox.com/starry-night-2006-06-14.htm
3-Tier Wedding Cake
3-Tier chocolate wedding cake with raspberry filling in tiers 1 and 3 and peanut butter filling in tier 2. The front side of the cake includes Shakespear's Sonnet 116: Let me not to the marriage of true minds Admit impediments. Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove: O no! it is an ever-fixed mark That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
