Star Wars Sputnikfest Cake
This was my entry for Sputnikfest 2010. I had an R2D2 made of 4 6" peanut butter cakes with the ball pan on top. The legs were made of rice krispie treats and covered in fondant. The whole head was hand painted & there is an LED light installed into the cake that swivels. I used an edible marker for all the details and cut out fondant pieces (also hand painted). The small Yoda was made of fondant/gumpaste and was placed on a cupcake for the judges to taste.

Jimmy Buffet Parrothead Wedding Cake
This cake was so much fun and exactly the kind of thing I LOVE to do. The couple came to me with a picture and wanted it to be copied... this is what I came up with. Everything was edible except for the fresh flowers that the bride placed on it and the umbrella on top. It was the most work I've ever put into a cake but I love how it turned out. There was also an extra sheet cake in the kitchen with 100 fondant seashells for serving. The entire wedding was Jimmy Buffet themed... they even had a margarita fountain at the reception... just awesome!

Cheese Pizza Cookie
I made this for my husband who is the pickiest eater alive... he eats a cheese pizza everyday so I thought this was appropriate. I really wanted to add extra toppings to make it look more like something I would eat but he doesn't eat anything but cheese so I left it. Very easy to do... I used royal icing & piping gel for the red sauce & white buttercream for the cheese.

Coach Purse Consignment Shop Opening
I was asked to do a "fake" purse cake for a consignment shop opening. I came up with this. I'm overall happy with the result. It was mistaken for a real purse before it even got off of my kitchen table :) I will be adding a string of pearls on the board in front of it and a sheet cake to serve the customers.

Green, Brown & Gold Wedding Shower Cake
I was asked to make this cake after a local bakery quoted the girl $150 for the same thing. I offered to do it for $90 and got the job. She loved it! 10" on the bottom with dark chocolate fondant & a 6" on top. For the record, I would like to add that Wilton Gold Luster Dust is garbage! lol... I will be ordering online next time I get an order for gold anything. Thanks for looking!

Sputnikfest Cake Contest Winner!
Our little town has an annual festival featuring the Sputnik (it was a piece of a Russian space shuttle that hit one of the roads in our town back in 1960). Last year I couldn't enter the cake contest because I had my baby on that day (I was tempted though)... so this year I just had to enter it. I made a lemon cake (10" & 6" layers with the ball cake on top). I used a strawberry shortcake and covered it to make a space shuttle and then a spaceship with an alien inside out of fondant... I used a few ideas from on here so thank you!!! I was up against 18 other cakes and they judged based on taste and creativity. I got a trophy & $250!!! This was the first big cash prize I've received so I was pretty excited! I passed on making a cupcake cake for a birthday party (it would've only made me $50 :( I'm glad I made the choice to do this cake instead!!!

County Fair Pink Dream Wedding Cake
This is my first ever cake competition... it's not much, just our local fair. I used a lot of different techniques on this cake and I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's mostly covered in fondant, royal icing decorations, stringwork hanging from the 2nd tier from the top... it's by far my favorite cake that I have yet to create. I will be adding a handle to the top of the basket of roses yet. Thanks for looking!

Pastel Butterflies & Flowers
This was on request from the bride. She had wanted "daisies" with all different pastel colors and butterflies somehow... then she drew me a picture of the idea of her "daisies" and it was just a made up flower with rounded petal edges... nothing like an actual daisy. So even though I think this looks more like a baby shower cake, I followed her instructions and this was the final product. They have a topper that will be added before the reception tomorrow.

Lightning Mcqueen 2Nd Birthday Cake
Made it using the cruiser pan. I didn't care for any of the pictures I saw on here with wings on the back so I left that out... I was really nervous about doing this but I think it turned out okay. We're going to put candles in the back like exhaust pipes for my son to blow out :)

Toilet Cake
1st off, thanks to SLK for providing me detailed instructions on how to do this! I had a bad feeling going into this one and I was right... lol. It turned out good on my kitchen table at home but after the 2 hour drive to my in-law's for my father in law's 50th surprise party, the bowl had cracked and was sagging horribly. I was able to hide it a bit with the lid but decided against decorating it anymore. I used the small ball pan to do the bowl because that's all I had... frosted in buttercream.
