4-6-8-10-12 wedding cake - Sunflowers and viking mums. When I arrived at the reception site, the flowers that had been reserved for the cake were missing... it seems the caterer thought they were extra and she used them to decorate the buffet table, so Hubby was given the job of cutting all the flower heads off while I added the finishing touches to the cake (leaving behind vases full of just stems - thankfully someone had enough common sense to remove them). Another view... this vanilla/almond pound cake was covered in vanilla buttercream, a stunning variety of fresh flowers, greenery, rose hips, and teal blue grosgrain ribbon that matched the wedding party perfectly.
Not my usual "style". My friend wanted me to use a huge 10"x30" felt race car pennant to decorate the cake with - I cut out the car, mounted it on foam core, and placed it on the cake like a billboard. The cake was huge - 20x6x4. Chocolate fudge cake, raspberry ganache filling, dark ganache frosting, and 120 fresh berries along the border.
