Ireland Forever!
This is a Devil's Food cake with filling made with butter cream, crushed Thin Mint cookies and a touch of peppermint extract and topped with plain ol buttercream. I made this cake for a party at my SIL's. It was cute and yummy and really simple; a success in my book :) I am still dabbling with transfers, trying to keep it really simple until it clicks.

Man Cake!
This is a cake for my BIL's birthday. I wanted simple and manly without a "theme". He loves cherry cordials so I went with that flavorwise. Its Devil's Food cake with cherry and vanilla butter cream filling, topped with chocolate butter cream with a splash of chocolate liquor. I then drizzled melted chocolate over the top and sides...I keep thinking it looks like a bad 80's t-shirt, but I'm sure it'll be a hit.

Monster In My Fridge!
This is an enormous cake for a Boy Scout troop's Blue and Gold Celebration. I am donating it in hopes of drumming up interest in my cakes. Ths is enough cake for over 100, I have never made so much cake in my life! I don't really want to ever again! The size made this cake very difficult to manage...but I learned a few things as always:) Its a pinapple cake with coconut cream filling topped with butter cream with just a hint of almond. Oh and the palm tree is my first attempt at a transfer.

Practice!!! Scrolls
I have becoe obsessed with scrolls, they are so beautiful and elegant. I thought that since they were so simple looking they would be simple to do...not so much. This is my second attempt. the firts was completely freehand and was not good. I traced the buttercream with a toothpick first this time and it went much better. I think I'll break buy the Wilton scroll press thingies, but this cake is ok. Its for my mother-in-law's 70th birthday , White Almond Sour Cream cake with layers of lemon curd.

Blue Baby Shower Cake
Yet another baby shower cake :) I used White Almond Sour Cream cake, the large bottom cake is layered with lemon and raspberry fillings and the blocks are layered with a filling made from Nutella and cream cheese. I used MMF accents. I like this cake, I see lots of imperfections etc as usual, but it is still a success.

Strawberry Shortcake
I took all my inspiration from a cake I saw here. This cake was originally supposed to have some more details etc, but I had a little too much fun bowling(read drinking beer)the night before I put it all together. So this is officially known as my hang-over cake. But happily it still turned out ok an dthe birthday girl was tickled :) Its a Swiss chocolate cake with strawberry flavored butter cream and mmf accents.

Star Cake
This cake was for a nine year old girl's birthday party. The frosting is raspberry flavored butter cream and the stars are banana flavored MMF (tasted just like a banana Laffy Taffy!) This cake turned out pretty cute, especially considering how quickly it came together. Is it possible that I am finally getting the hang of this cake stuff? :)

Polka Dot Baby Shower Cake
I took the inspiration from the invitation as well a a variety of polka dot cakes I've seen posted on Cake Central. Its a vanilla cake with chocolate cream cheese filling frosted with butter cream with just a tad of almond extract. And of course the polka-ducks(as my nephew calls them) are marshmallow fondant. For the first time I am actually happy with my cake! I still see all the flaws etc, but I feel pretty satisfied.

Dr. Seuss Themed Cake
This cake was for a party for my sister to celebrate her A.A. degree, she still has two years so this was an informal BBQ. She used Dr. Seuss's book Oh The Places You'll Go as her theme, or color scheme. I'm not thrilled with this cake, as my original plan had been a whimsical cake, but that failed miserably and I had to knock this one out instead in a short amount of time. But it was super yummy, chocolate and vanilla cakes, with butter cream frosting. I added a bit of almond extract to the frosting

Cowboy Boot Cake
This cake was a nightmare, I thought I would save time by purchasing a half sheet cake unfrosted from a grocery store, but the cake was so moist (read uncooked) in the middle that when I cut the boot shape out, the cake was VERY difficult to frost. Anyway I used all butter cream and free-handed everything (obviously) and used Viva towels to smooth. I am ofcourse not thrilled with the cake, but I hope my friend and her little birthday boy will be. The cow print cake is the smash cake for the birthday boy.

Cake
For a friend's farewell party; a chocolate cake filled with hommeade whipped cream with fresh strawberry puree folded into it, with chocolate butter cream frosting with Kahlua instead of vanilla, and hand dipped chocolate strawberries. The cake tasted WAY better than it looked, but I was satisfied, not 100%, but I never am... :)

Harlequin Cake For Hubby's Birthday
I threw my hubby a dinner party for his 45th birthday and spent most of my energy on the mushroom stuffed tenderloin and other assorted yummies, but did manage to make a cake. This is a vanilla cake filled with chocolate mousse. I used Wilton fondant and mmf is far better. The blue is buttercream frosting. A very plain and simple cake, but it was yummy.
