This was actually a joke cake for my guy friend's 22nd birthday, but I thought it would be cute for a little girl too, lol. Just a 10 inch cake with an 8 inch cake on top, iced in buttercream with lollipops stuck around the center.
Birthday cake for a co-worker of my mom's.
My mom asked me to make a birthday cake for two co-workers tomorrow. Chocolate cake with fudge filling (chocolate fudge icing from the can.. dont' tell! lol) and buttercream icing. I just threw the design together, and it turned out a tad gawdy b/c I was trying to get rid of all the leftover drop flowers from my luau cake.
Bottom layer is 12 inch cherry chip cake iced and filled w/ bc. Top layer is 8 inch white cake filled with cherry pie filling, iced in bc and coated in crushed graham cracker crumbs. Tiki huts are cupcakes (idea from snowy811). Palm trees are pretzel rods w/ buttercream leaves. Flowers are bc drop flowers with 4 dots instead of 1 to make them look more tropical. Hula girls and tiki torches are purchased cupcake picks. Thanks to reenie for inspiring me with her Dora beach cake!
This is a wedding shower cake my mom is taking to work with her. Just a yellow cake and buttercream icing.
Just for fun. Didn't take a lot of time on it and this is a good example of what happens when you make roses from buttercream that is way too thin! The design is from the Wilton Course I book.
I figured out the reverse shells! Much easier on a square cake. First ever try at roses, they need some work but I'm pleased. By the time I got to them my icing was way too soft. Sweet peas turned out pretty good. Overall I'm happy with my final cake, and I can't wait to practice those roses some more!
Reverse shells are awful, pattern wasnt my choice but I tried to work with it.
White chocolate cake layered with white chocolate mousse and fresh strawberries. Topped with white chocolate meringue buttercream and more strawberries.
