This is my son's birthday cake inspired by bcake1960. Choc cake with pastry pride and Rich's bettercream. Was hard pressed to find army toys ANYWHERE so the sizes were off, but he was happy with it so I was too.
I did this cake last year before taking any classes...before I knew about thin icing for coverage and what to do with corners. I haven't decorated a cake in about 20 yrs previous to that, even then not doing much more than shell borders and some drop flowers. It really sparked my interest again. I forgot how much fun this is. (I think this is my favorite of the two) Thanks for looking.
My first commissioned cake and I messed up the writing. Was supposed to say god Bless you on your First Holy Communion w/names....but came out FIRTS.....maybe it was nerves...but I just couldnt get the writing right. It was a 12 x 18, 2 layer (scratch) white cake w/ hmemade strawberry filling.
