Death Note Lawliet L Birthday Cake
This was for a friend whose sister was turning 13 and totally loves japanese anime, especially the show Death Note and this is her favorite character, Lawliet or L, from the show. I never heard of any of this but my friend sent me the picture I'm holding and I also googled the show and saw the picture of the book which I also printed out. The character and book were fondant pieces, layered and painted with food coloring or black frosting to create the look. Chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream filling and buttercream icing on top. I looked up how to write Happy Birthday in japanese and put that on the front of the cake with the birthday girls name.

My First Wedding Cake
Not only was this my first wedding cake, but I had to travel 8 hours to the wedding to bring it.. it was a gift for a friend and I also made a lobster groom's cake and had to bring it all up to Michigan's Upper Peninsula and finish up there. The whole story is on my blog at kitchenbliss dot blogspot dot com... it's vanilla cake with buttercream icing and raspberry filling, I made the swirls up there and I also picked out all the flowers and fern, brought them up and placed them myself, and the wedding colors were black and white, hence the black ribbon. It was quite exciting and I was very pleased how it turned out considering the logistical challenges.

Lobster Couple Groom's Cake
Modeling chocolate lobsters, fondant seashells, red velvet cake and buttercream frosting with raspberry filling, brown sugar sand. My first groom's cake, one of my husband's best friends asked me to do this and their wedding cake, and we had to travel 8 hours in the car to the wedding. I didn't think a carved lobster cake would turn out so I was going to go with one lobster on top of a sea cake and then got the idea from Cake Boss for the lobster bride and groom look. It was a huge hit.

Very Hungry Caterpillar Birthday Cake
This was for my nephew's first birthday. His mom's favorite childhood book was the Very Hungry Caterpillar so I purchased a book and plush toy to give with the cake for the birthday party. The white frosting was mousseline from Rose/The Cake Bible and extra colors were with decorator's buttercream.

Camping Cake
This was a bday cake for a buddy I always go camping with. Every time we camp by the river, those pesky raccoons always keep us up all night and get into all of our stuff. Fondant tent, animals, cooler, fire ring, rocks, trees are sugar cones with buttercream, logs are pretzels, and the axe is fake. Everything else is buttercream, and I had chocolate cake with raspberry/buttercream filling.

Blue And Brown Themed Baptism Cross Cake
Used Mousseline recipe for frosting and cookies and cream (crushed Oreos) mousseline for the filling. This was quite delicious but because it does not "crust", smoothing it out was a learning experience. 10in square chocolate cake, and used melted chocolate chips/cream to form cross design and initials on the top. Ribbon was pinned in place and a second layer was added because the blue frosting was seeping/staining the white stripe in the ribbon.

Winter Baby Shower - Snowflake Theme
Chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream, covered in chocolate ganache and then decorated cornelli lace with more ganache. Bear and blanket were made of fondant and flag says "Welcome Alyssa" for the baby girl. Snowflakes made from melted white chocolate discs and in two sizes - both free-handed on parchment paper by copying stencils I printed off from online. Half of the snowflakes received pink sprinkles for some shimmer. Ribbon was doubled up to avoid chocolate color seeping in, held using pins in back

Hunting Scene
This was for my hubby's 30th. Thanks to those who posted here for the great ideas. The deer I ordered online were too small so I had to make my own, a little lumpy but OK. Yellow cake with chocolate frosting, except white frosting + colors for grass, etc. I used some cake scraps to make a hill. Used craft sticks/dowels/hot glue for deer frame, also with camou fabric to make the blind / hunter's chair. I used powdered & paste colors with vodka to paint the deer, hunter, and rocks, all made from fondant.

Babyblisscake.jpg
Got inspiration from folks on here, especially pbertone1005. This was my first time trying basketweave, ruffles, squiggles, fondant, and gumpaste... and really my third cake I've decorated yet. It was a labor of love and I'm happy with how it turned out. It was for my sister-in-law's baby shower (unknown gender).. everything was BC except blanket, blocks (fondant), and bear (gumpaste). I used yellow cake with BC and raspberry jam filling. Used 10.5x14 pan for bottom layers (2) and one 10in round for hood.

Buche De Noel / Christmas Yule Log
This is my take on the classic buche de noel that I created for a family charity party. I rolled a sponge cake with white chocolate buttercream filling and used chocolate/coffee buttercream as the bark. Regular buttercream for vines/leaves and punched out berries from maraschino cherries using a round tip. Accessorized with the classic meringue mushrooms and a sprinkling of powdered sugar "snow"

Fire Rescue Scene - Graduation Party Cake
This is my first cake ever. I'm brand new to this site and to this hobby. It was a surprise party for my husband who had just finished Fire Academy. I made the buildings out of cardboard and printing out pictures of textures online (used photo shop to tile), I purchased the fire truck/men online, and used crumbled cookies for the road and a grass tip for the green. The peppers and cactus behind are because it was on May 5th so it was a surprise cinco de mayo party as well. Hope you like it!
