Piano Cake
The piano and stool were done with Natalka's brilliant piano template and is gumpaste. The cake is double choc. cake with white choc strawberry mousse filling and ganache icing covered w MMF. Kudos again to Natalka for generously sharing her template! She helped make my 14 yr old daughter's cake a big hit!

Icarly Cake
Had a dickens of a time w/ the screen. Used a large sugar cookie but it softened up and started buckling. If there's a next time I won't do the screen until the day of the event. Keyboard keys are squares of molded white chocolate. Made the mouse w/ the egg shaped Wilton pan. My 6 yr old looked at it and said "the mouse is backwards, Mom." Well for Pete's sake... it was:-)

Pocket Watch Petit Fours
Bridal shower theme was the Mad hatter teaparty. They wanted brownie petit fours w/ choc. glaze so I contributed these. The pocket watch ones were fun but very time consuming. I used royal icing and a tip 5 to pipe out the round chain holder thingy and the watch turner knob. Painted w/ gold highlighter dust. Sorry about the layout but I was too tired to make it look prettier for a pic:-)

Shopping Bag
stacked 4" by 8" (approx.) cake slices; carved a V on the sides to look like a shopping bag (and cut my finger in the process:-( ) GP shoe. Can't wait to get the shoe kit but it'll have to wait for a while longer. My god daughter really liked it... it's red velvet w/ cream cheese filling. Thanks for looking!

Square Wedding Cake W/ Fresh Roses
top and bottom tiers red velvet w/ cream cheese filling; 2nd layer butter cake w/white choc. strawberry mousse filling; 3rd layer lemon cake w/ lemon meringue BC filling. Quilting on bottom and 3rd layer. Bottom layer a bit saggy... I find it very difficult to cover larger tiers w/ fondant well. Fresh roses really make the cake, I think! My 1st experience w/ blocking a cake for flowers. Sizes are 12", 10", 8" and 6". Bride was pleased so that was a relief:-)

R2D2
It survived the 2 1/2 hr road trip to Atlanta without mishap...a testament to secure dowel rods!! (especially w/ 3kids in the car chucking stuff at each other the entire way.) The body (7" rounds) is a total of 6 layers double choc. cake w/ choc. rasp. ganache filling. Head is 1 layer + half ball pan van. cake w/ lemon meringue IMBC filling. RKT legs/feet. MMF covering and accents. I was gonna use the little lightbulbs for one of his lenses but neither one in the package would light up:-( My nephew loved it, though, so it was well worth the work. Thanks for looking!

Marzipan Vegetable Garden
Marzipan tomatoes, carrots, pumpkins, eggplant, cabbage, potatoes. GP wheelbarrow. Have to tell a funny story: I made it for my mom's husband's 80th bday. My mom, coming from WWII era, is very frugal. She loved the wheelbarrow so much she thought I'd like it back to use another cake. Put it in warm soapy water and comes back...nothing left but a gooey pile of brown water. After we both stopped laughing she told me she has a new respect for our sugar mediums:-)

The Holy Hand Grenade Of Antioch
based on a wonderful cake decorator's design (Magda from Michigan on Sugarbuzz). Used the ball pan for the Grenade and fabric trim for the details. Chest is separate: bottom layer orange marmalade; lid double choc. with rasp. ganache. Choc mmf covering and straps. Scroll is printer paper w/ the Armaments verse. Great fun to do!
