Julian Martin Birthday
Searched the internet for firetruck phots and came up with this as the finished product. It was his fifth birthday so the engine # was 5. Since his last name was Martin I made it "Martinville FD". Royal icing ladders, emblems, and hatchets. Gumpaste light bar, siren, windows, grill and control panel. Chocolate donuts with gumpaste pearls.

Murray Wedding Cake
The most unusual cake I've done....... yes what you see is real shark jaws. The cake replicates the brides dress. The reason for the shark jaws was because they were going to a Great White concert after the reception. Gumpaste roses highlighted with luster dust adorn the top of the cake. The groom spray painted the jaws and I glued them to a piece of plexiglass so that 1) people wouldn't be grossed out by the thought of eating a piece of cake that an animal jaw had been sitting on and 2) because I didn't know what kind of paint he used. The ribbon was in two parts and I glued them together. Came out pretty, but very unusual. My husband asked what kind of cake I'm doing next for them (they ordered the Goth Cake from me) and I'm afraid to ask.

Orchids/basketweave
A cake I put together for in two days for a wine tasting. Since it wasn't for anyone special I decided to try out a different variation of basketweave. Boy does that take a long time changing bags back and forth. Not sure I like the layout but everyone else did. I think I have two future wedding cakes, a casino cake and some other cakes from this tasting. They loved it.

Eifel Tower
Sure didn't want to attempt a tower out of royal icing and I got lucky and found what used to be a lamp. So I found a bunch of French words and wrote them on the side of the cake. It was really hard to take a picture with all the stuff in the background and when I put a blakc drape behind it the tower blended into it but I think you get the idea. It was a big hit. Lemon cake with raspberry fillling and BC.

Chili Pepper
In honer of Cinco De Mayo. For a wine tasting at a local store. White Yogurt cake with lemon curd filling. Fondant over the top except the stem which is BC. First time ever really dealing with fondant in over a year and the first time dealing with this type of fondant (it's not Wilton) and it tastes pretty good.

Burleson Wedding
Cake was butter white with my special filling and BC icing. Handmade gumpaste flowers on top. Fondant pearls highlighted with super pearl dust. Things I'll never do again- 1) let the bride supply sheer ribbon, 2) make sure the bride understands that when she picks a cake photo made from fondant that when you change to BC there needs to be a bottom trim of some kind. It was awful trying to get a flush edge once they were stacked and only the sheer ribbon to cover it. Luckily I made it work.

Seventeenth Birthday Cake
What do you do for a 17 year old boy? Cell phone or IPod of course. He loved it, it was the perfect cake for my son. After two attempts using icing for the screen & numbers I didn't like the results so I scraped it off and used fondant then used a marker for the words & numbers. That's his actual birthdate & time at the top of the screen.

The Original Easter Cake (Almost)
This was the original plan for the Easter cake, just a small wicker basket big enough to feed 5 people. Well I used 3/4 Splenda in the cream cheese frosting (my dad is watching his sugar for health reasons). That ended up being real soft and I had to keep outting the bag back in the frig. Then my handle broke so I had to make it smaller. We had to travel 75 minutes so I stuck it in the freezer the night before so it would make it (good thing 'cause it was really soft and trying to fall apart). Oh well....

The Unexpected Easter Cake
At the last minute my mother tells me that instead of 5 people theres going to be 14. So I had to split the flowers & leaves I had planned for the one small cake. Made the bunny out of marzipan (won't do that again) but he came out kind of cute for my first time. Good thing I had the left over cake from the small cake otherwise people would have been eating Publix cake.

Gumpaste Orchids In Easter Colors
Gearing up for my familys annual Easter picnic. Haven't decided what I'm doing for the cake yet, maybe some basket thing with a bunch of leftover flowers?????? But I've been working on the coloring of these so I figured I'd use them for that. These are actaully the first ones I've done......... not too bad. Had trouble with some of them breaking which is why you see royal icing but I figure you won't once they are on the cake.

St. Patricks Day Cake
I really made it hard on myself when I suggestioned three different cake flavors..... silly me. One of Lemon with Lemon Cream Cheese filling and Lemon B/C, one of White with Orange Cream filling and b/c and one of chocolate with raspberry jam filling and White Chocolate Mint b/c. Then a layer of b/c over the top to combine the three and then airbrushed. Never again........... It had RI shamrocks around the top for decoration but didn't have my camera when it was finished.
