Flowers And Butterflies 1St Birthday
This is my daughter's first birthday cake from this past weekend. It is a 9" and 6" covered in lumpy fondant, as usual, argh! The decorations are gumpaste with royal icing piped details. After this, I am pretty sure I am going to stick with buttercream icing. Nothing like fondant frustration at 2am the night before the party! All in all, I was happy with it, especially since I got to make it for my little girl. :)

3 Tier Baby Jungle Queen Shower Cake
Made this cake for my friend's daughter's baby shower... it was two weeks after mine and I was in labor and dilated 3cm the morning I made this! It was chocolate with oreo filling and white cake with cream cheese filling. White chocolate buttercream and fondant/gumpaste accents. The front caved in from the heat. Georgia in August is HOT and it was a 45 min. drive. Whew I was happy to have that one done! LOL...

First Paid Order!!!
I made 2 dozen red velvet cupcakes for my mother-in-law's monthly meeting for her organization. They have home made cream cheese buttercream icing and some red sugar sprinkles. Those were plan B after the red icing snafu I had. Ick! The stars are fondant/gumpaste mix and the little flags are wilton cupcake picks that she gave to me to put on there. My first order to actually get money for, $25!!

Raffle Cake
Iced in high humidity buttercream with line impression mat on sides and diamond on top. Fondant bead border and gumpaste flowers/bow on top. This cake was one disaster after the other, but I sure did want to eat it!! Too bad I donated it... WASC cake with white choc raspberry, rasp filling, and white choc rasp buttercream... Yum! :)

Manly Birthday Cake
My 5th and most recent cake. I got the inspiration for this cake from craftybrandi, only I added my own twist of stripes instead of stars, but like the shades of blues and the writing. I did this for my boss at work. His son is having a birthday soon, so maybe I can get a gig! Eeeek, I need more practice though... better get back into the kitchen!

Mother's Day Fun!
I loved making this cake.. one thing though. Now I know why I never hear of fondant over whipped cream cheese icing... eeekkkk!!!! It melts right into the icing and will tear if you look at it sideways. It also will not smooth at all. The only benefit was that it gave me something more solid to adhere my fondant flowers to. Royal icing piped details with striped purple and pink icing.

The Disasterous Babypoo Cake...
I made this for my mother-in-laws birthday. It was only my 2nd cake. I was up until 2 am and learned a whole lot about icing color... first off, my drop flowers are WAY too pink!!! I was going for subtle and missed it by a mile. Also had a coloring catastrophe with my icing color. I was going for buttercup yellow and ended up with babypoop. I started with buttercup and it was way too bright. I read on here about toning down yellow with violet... well, don't do it in large quantities! Only to offset the natu

My Very First Cake!
I made this cake off of a Wilton design in their cake decorating book. I never took a class, but self-taught lesson #1... read the recipe carefully!!!!! I accidentally added 3/4 cocoa AND unsweetend chocolate to the icing when it said OR. Icing was bitter chocolate.. ick! Also learned from scratch cakes are dry! This one went in the trash after everyone in the family tried a piece, good learning though!
