This was a fudge marble cake with buttercream icing, royal icing animals that I made for my grandson's first birthday. My D-IL made most of the farm animals. Since they are stationed in Clovis, NM, the farm animal theme was so appropriate. The barn was used for the smash cake, and it was a smash with my grandson! So I decided to see what it would look like as a Christmas wedding cake. I thought it looked very nice. This is a cake I did for my daughter's friend for her 18th birthday. She heard I made one for my daughter for her 17th birthday and told her Mom she wanted one too. Her mother doesn't do cakes, so I told her I would make it for her as a surprise. Alli was totally surprised and just loved it! It's a butter cake with brush embroidery flowers to look like Alli's favorite flip flops. I just love doing these cakes! Thanks for looking. This is a cake I did for my daughter's colorguard team. I usually bake them cookies before a football game, but I was in the mood for cake, so I came up with this. I put this cake under children's birthday cakes, but actually I made this for my adult son's 24th birthday just to see what he would say about it. He loved the turtles when he was about nine, but I didn't know cake decorating then. I hoped this would make up for it. He had the biggest grin when he saw it! This is a cake I did for a friend to thank her for taking care of our 16 year-old daughter so we could sneek off to California to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It's a carrot cake with white chocolate cream cheese icing, edible image of our friend's beloved horse, and bc cactus on the sides. This took me awhile to decorate as it's so hot here in Arizona, I had to keep putting the cake in the fridge to firm up the icing before I could move onto the next phase of decorating. Woohoo! This is my first cake order for a lady who's having a pool party. This is the actual pool where the party will be and it's an edible image. It's a two layer fudge marble on bottom with buttercream filling and chocolate on top, fondant accents and graham crackers as sand. Thanks to lisa, Ladycake, and KarenOR for your ideas. This started off to be a cake that I was going to take to my daughter's track banquet. I didn't get it done in time so I changed the design and used it as practice to practice the cornelli lace again after I received some tips on how to do it better than the last cake. I still didn't get it quite right and need lots of practice on my star borders. Anyway, this is a fudge marble cake that I added french vanilla creamer to, chocolate pudding filling and almond scented buttercream. I'll keep trying!
This is a cake I did a year ago for my daughter's friend for her birthday. It's a white cake with buttercream icing and buttercream roses and sweet peas. I need more practice making roses, but everyone thought it came from a bakery, so I guess it was okay.
This is a cake I made to try and practice the cornelli lace. The lace part isn't quite right. I went from end to end and I don't think that's how it should have been done, but I think it turned out pretty. Any suggestions on what I need to do next time? I love this technique! Okay here's the actual wedding cake I did for my son's wedding in April. I did make a few modifications to it because I was up all night doing this one and I ran out of time and didn't get all the scrollwork done. Thank goodness I only have one son! Like the practice cake, it's marble with buttercream filling, icing and royal icing flowers.
