Each piece is handcut from pieces of fondant that had been textured with different types of mats. Used royal icing for the stitching around the quilt pieces. Everything is edible, buttoms are fondant/gumpaste.
Fun cake to make. Zebra print on the shoe box is hand painted with foodcoloring. The shoe is out of gumpaste and hand painted. The inside of the cake is also zebra print. The lid was made from styrofoam covered with fondant by request of birthday girl she wanted to be able to keep it and the shoe for a display.
Tried my best for replica of Kyle Busch #18 Nascar. The car number is the birthday girls age! Carved out of 2 - 12x18 chocolate sheet cakes.
Crown Royal Birthday
Everything is Edible. The bottle is 16 inches tall, made from all carrot cake covered in fondant. No RKT was used in this cake. The red solo cup is made from gum paste, then air brushed. Ice cubes and drink are poured sugar. Though you can't see the bottle has a handle just like the 1.75 ltr bottle it was modeled after. The cake is actually 50% larger than the actual bottle. People at the party kept poking their fingers in the cup to see if it was real!

Cade's Super Hero Cake
Here is my take on the super hero cakes. So many out there for inspiration so don't know who to credit. This was a very last minute cake, so not as clean as I would like. Use star cut-outs for the borders. White chocolate cake 6", 8" & 10" covered in fondant.
Practice Cake & Dtc Tutorial
I did this practice cake when I wrote the tutorial for the gum paste package bow for the DTC blog. The cake is covered in fondant and the stripes are stenciled using pink lushter dust.

Ladybug trails were hand painted with black food color. The two "smash" cakes are 1/2 ball pans covered in buttercream with fondant accents. Two cakes because one was going to be used in a professional photo shoot.
Kansas State Fair 2010
Theme for cake entries "things that go bump in the night" This is my take on that! Leg and foot constructed out of RKT covered in modeling chocolate then covered in fondant. Used petal dusts to create the injuried toe. Pillow covered in fondant. I received 1st place in my division.
Second curious george cake. This time made him dancing on a beach ball. CG and kite and ball all made from gumpaste/fondant. Edible images of CG on sides of cake.
"my Favorite Puppies" 4Th Birthday
Dogs on the top of cake are hand modeled after pictures given to me by the grandmother of the granddaughters favorite dogs - a bearded collie, pug, and poodle. The collie and pug are actual dogs, but the poodle was from the b-day girls favorite story book
Remake of my Dieker Wedding cake that was done in pink. Some small changes from the pink version. The bride had a picture of that cake for over two years just waiting for her wedding date. Everthing is buttercream. Sizes 8" 10" 12" 14". Had to deliver this July 3rd in the pouring rain. Real ribbon around the base of each cake, real flowers.
White chocolate cake with raspberry filling covered in white chocolate fondant. Baby tmade out of fondant with tylose using first impression mold. Hosts gave me free rein to design just gave me a copy of the invite which was very simple with a pink plaid border and one daisy. Ribbon and bow are made from fondant to represent the border on the invite.
Helen's 90Th Birthday
Made for lady who loves doing crossword puzzles, going on trips with church group, having coffee with friends at McDonalds, and playing pitch card game. Everything either modeled from fondant or gum paste. Crossword puzzle on front is on edible image sheet. I made up the puzzel from the names of her children and grandchildren.
Payton's Roller Skates
This was a fun cake to make. Everything is cake - skates are marbled cake, disco ball is chocolate. Covered in fondant. Grandmother ordered for 11 yr old. She didn't want standing up skates (darn!) so I went as extreme as I could without them standing. The whole cake matches the invitations. Disco ball painted with silver luster dust then sprinkled with silver peralized sugar crystals. Was a little disappointed with the laces, fondant just wouldn't come out of extruder smooth. Letters were cut out using cricut.
