Black And White Square Cake
OK, you know you're a cake geek when you'll do a cake for "fun" in the middle of the week for no good reason. OK, my reason was that I want to do wedding cakes, but I needed a picture of what I could do to convince people... So this is it. My first wedding cake. There are some fondant problems in the corners with more practice, I'll get better. I used tip 1 for my piping and it still seemed really big to me. Let me know what you all think. Thanks!

Front Of Elmo Cake
Elmo cake for two year olds birthday. It was a modified version of the sour cream almond cake. I also made raspberry butter cream. Yum. This cake was a big hit at the party. The kids just loved it and one lady had THREE pieces of cake! What a compliment. ;-> The Elmo head is a giant cookie. I baked the skewers right into the cookie and then slathered the back with chocolate to lock them in. The back of the cake is the next picture.

Cranberry And Cream Bridal Shower Cake
Well, here it is...the first cake I was paid for. I got $100 bucks. Wow! =-> I bought a fondant roller for this that had hearts on it. They came out really faint though, so I piped over a few of them to really bring them out. Makes me think I don't need a fondant embosser, just need to get better at piping. I'll practice using both methods anyway. BTW, the cake was soooo yummy!! ;->

My Copy Of Anne Hjelte/welch's Flower Pot Cake.
Well, here it is. This cake had so many new elements for me. I just wanted to challenge myself and see if I could do it. Some of my flowers turned out really great...some of them, not so great. =-> I left corn starch on some of my fondant so that was kind of a newbie thing to do. The baby is modeling chocolate and it's my first time working with that medium. (Don't I sound like an artist instead of a cake maker? ;-P ) Anyway, it was a huge hit and the whole party loved it. Yay! This is the front.
