My First Attempt At Cookie Decorating
I recently had a friend over for an afternoon of cookie decorating and baking. This was our first try at cookies after taking the Wilton cake decorating courses. I made an assortment of cookies - just to get a feel for what it was like. I had a lot of fun and look forward to perfecting a cookie recipe to use. This was less stressful than cake decorating. A lot of fun!

Clothesline Cake
Well... I had a lot of fun making the fondant bear, clothing, buttons and wooden posts. But, unfortunately, I rushed through icing the cakes with buttercream. And, I was very disappointed in the quality of my icing job. That is my most difficult challenge - smoothly icing a cake before applying the decorations. Thanks to everyone who has posted clothelines cakes on this site. Your pictures were very helpful. And, thank you to flourgrl, for the inspiration to do the baby bear on top of the cake! :)

Under The Sea
This is the third cake I've made outside of my Wilton courses. I made this for a 10-year-old girl who was having an "Under the Sea" themed birthday. Cake iced in buttercream. I was much more relaxed with this cake. And, the process is finally starting to speed up just a little... I guess I'm just starting to have my own routine.

Graduation Cake W/ Pom Poms
I made this graduation cake for my sister-in-law who was graduating from high school. Pom poms, cap and diploma made with marshmallow fondant. Cake iced in buttercream. This is the second cake I've ever made for an event and I learned a lot by making mistakes this time around. It was a lot of fun to create. But, I was so happy yesterday to finally have it finished.

My First "event" Cake
I just finished my first cake for an event. I've only made one other cake outside of class and it was just for practice. I definitely feel very "new" at this because it took me forever to finish and it's such a simple cake. I used the party napkin (pictured behind) for the theme of the cake. I can't wait until some of these techniques become second nature. Cake iced completely in buttercream.
