10" round chocolate cake decorated to look like a Skylanders portal.
This is my daughter's 7th birthday cake. 8" & 10" rounds. Strawberry cake with banana-chocolate filling. Covered with fondant and hand-painted. Fondant-loop bow with fondant curlicues and fondant ball border.
I did this as a freebie for the mommy and me gymnastics program I take my daughter to. They were nice enough to comp the fall semester for us since I quit working after I became pregnant, so I thanked them the best way I know how - with cake!
6", 8", 10" white chocolate cake with raspberry mousse filling. Iced in buttercream with candy seashell borders. The topper is real flowers and the others are the Wilton paper flowers, colored with chalk.
Originally a 12" round cut into a hexagon. The cake was chocolate fudge with peanut butter filling (and REALLY yummy!). Iced in buttercream with fondant accents for the top border. The flop cards represent the wedding date, Sept. 22
Cake for my husband's 31st birthday. He is a HUGE beer drinker, and the guys he works with have been bugging me to bake for them again. Plus I needed to test a couple of new recipes for my sister-in-laws wedding.
My first tiered cake and first time doing scrollwork. 4", 6", 10" white chocolate cake with all BC icing. Seashells are white candy melts with white shimmer dust. On top is one white seashell and one chocolate seashell, to represent the bride and groom, who are different races.
I did this for my neighbor, whose son was born on Good Friday. I got the idea from a picture on here by crisseyann (thanks). It was about the only thing I could find that was Easter-y, but not too girly.
my 2-year-old daughter's birthday cake. she is absolutely NUTS over Elmo
This is the way I brought the cake home from class, before the border was put on top.
First cake ever. My instructor hates character cakes, so I decided to do this instead. A variation on the rainbow cake in the student book.
