Lego Cake
My son loves lego and saw a cake by Luvalot and wanted it. How fiddly was this. The cake is a victoria sandwich covered in bc and fondant. The board is covered in fondant and I pressed a lego piece in it to make indents. All the lego pieces are fondant. It was a labour of love making the lego pieces so I pass on my respects to Luvalot.

Owl
This cake was made using a ball pan and a small loaf pan. Thanks to Loredawn for her inspiration of the almonds on his front and chocolate stick twigs. He is covered in bc & fondant and his eyes are jammie dodgers. His feathers are cut out using a five petal cutter and his beak and feet are fondant.

Dragon
This is based on Debbie Brown's Dotty Dragon. It is for a celebration at work which has a princess and knight theme. I work for a pre-school (kindergarten) and thought the children would like. it. I thought the head looks more like a cow but hey why not. And yes I am dressing up as a knight as I I have boys and am borrowing their foam sword!

Crab
I used my ball pan and covered it with bc as a base layer and mmf on top. I used a colouring picture I found as my inspiration. The seaweed and crab are all mmf. I used spaghetti to support his eyes which are on little stalks. This cake is for my work's summer fair and I hope the children are going to like it.

Baseball Cap
I made this cake using my ball pan. The cake is covered in bc & mmf. It was for my Dad's 65th birthday. I was talking to a relative and they had bought him a new cap for his birthday (as he is never seen without one!) so I used the colours of his new cap. It is not a patch on JulieBugg2000 Baseball Caps but I was pleased with it.

Triceratops
Nothing went right first time with this cake but I am quite happy with the outcome. I made a 10 inch cherry madeira and shaped it to the triceratops I drew. (All the cherries sunk to the bottom even though I coated them in flour!) I ended up covering the cake in MMF and making up a patchwork in MMF for the triceratops. I have learned to stick to what you know unless you have plenty of time.

Magic Rabbit In A Hat
The cake is two 2 layer 8 inch chocolate madeira covered in chocolate bc and fondant. The rabbit is made out of rice crispies covered in choc bc and fondant with some spaghetti holding its ears up. It was a nightmare trying not to stain the white fondant with chocolate bc! I do not feel this is one of my better cakes, but as long as the child likes it that is the main thing (I will find out tomorrow). I took inspiration from Rosiecakes and my son's magic set.

Harley Davidson Motorcycle
I made this cake for a friends husband. All she asked for was a cake for about 60 people, for her husbands 40th birthday and he likes Harley Davidsons! Thanks to CC I developed the idea and came up with this. The cakes are covered in fondant and the motorcycle is made with fondant and royal icing. I had one small disaster when the original flood icing motorcycle cracked into small pieces, but hey, what can you do? Bin it and do something different.

Christmas Candlelight
This is an idea from a book called Making Beautiful Christmas Cakes. It is a fruit cake covered in mazipan and fondant. The candle plaque is made using flood icing and the holly and berries are made out of fondant. This is my second try at flood icing and I think I made the white icing too thin as the candles are not as defined at they should be. I am on a learning curve (as always). Quite pleased with it though. At least this one did not break.

Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer
This is my first attempt at flood icing with royal icing. I have learnt a few lesson about bubbles in the icing and the thickness of the icing but quite happy with the result. It did break as I took it off the paper but it is a practice one for my Christmas cake, which is fruit cake and will be left to mature.

Mountain Bike
This is a cake for my husband who loves his mountain bike. It is a 8 inch madeira covered in orange bc with mmf on top. I normally use shop bought fondant and this was my first try with making my own mmf. I found it a bit stiffer than the fondant I normally use but I think I will improve with pratice. Everything is edible except for the toothpick I used to hold the bike up. The bike is made out of flower paste and painted with colouring paste. The path is crushed cookies.

Kipper
I modelled Kipper out of sugarpaste and sat him on an 8 inch square cake. Kipper turned out a bit fatter than he should have been but perhaps he had eaten some of the cake. I left the cake round my friend's house so it would be there when they came back from holiday but their cat took a liking to the box and sat on it. I had to put a bandage on Kipper's ear to repair the damage but my friend thought it was funny!

Sporty Spider
I used a ball shaped pan covered in black butter cream for the body. I used cola lances for the legs but as you can see they drooped so it looks like he has just ran a marathon! The feet and eyes are sugarpaste. I made the cake for my children's pre-school fair and it went down a storm. I wasn't that sure about it. It just goes to show that you can't tell what 3 & 4 yo's will like.

Hedgehog
This is one of my favourite cakes I have made as it was quite simple but effective. I made an 8 inch cake and cut down to form the shape. There is a bit of waste but my children do not mind! The spikes are chocolate sticks and I put some green butter cream on the board with small blossom flowers.
