This is a different version of my hand sculpted marzipan baby along with 2 vintage tattoo inspired gumpaste sparrows. The blanket carrying the baby is of gumpaste and has a 2, 20 gauge floral wire acting as a shape support. This is the topper to the cake I made.
This is my other entry in the Orange county fair. This is in the fair theme category ("Think Big" is the theme). Covered in fondant with gum paste and royal icing decorations. Results are posted tomorrow, I hope I place with this one too. ;o) **Update 7/10/09 This got 1st place!! ;o)**
This is my entry for the Orange county fair, it is in the formal category. It's a love bird wedding theme.. The decorations are fondant and gum paste. The birdcage is royal icing, it is 2 pieces. The dome is one piece and the body of the cage is the other piece. It took several tries. Everything is edible except the inside of the cake,( foam dummies were required) and support dowels.. I find out tomorrow if I placed or not ;o) **Update 7/10/09 - This got 2nd place** My other cake placed 1st ;o)
Covered in fondex with fondex flowers and bow. The baby is marzipan with a fondex argyle golfers hat.
Covered in fondant with fondant decorations and figures. This cake is my interpretation of the theme "say cheese" The 2 cows on top are Holstein cows which are the mascot for the fair this year. The girl cow has won the blue ribbon for her 2 ears of corn and her guy cow is taking her picture "say cheese!". The top and bottom tier of the cake are 35mm film with pictures of things that are popular at the fair and the farm that is part of the fair here in Ca. I hope you can see them all. My cake got 2nd place

All the little accesories on the cake were things that where part of the Grad's life, the good and the bad.. His Mom wanted to note the bad to show what he has over come and become.
Mermaid, fish and lobster are fondant.. The cake is all decorated in fondant with fondant accents..
These were for a picnic theme birthday for a little boy. I couldn't help but include ants with the order.. What goes better with a picnic than ants? The ants were just scrapbook stickers.. I thought it was cute, I just hope the little boys Mom isn't afraid of bugs.. ;o}

This was for my son's class party. I just used the funfetti cake mix, cream cheese frosting and topped it with a fondant heart piped with RI.. Yummy!!
I didn't get my heirloom cookie cutters like I had hoped so, I bent the heart cutter I had and also reshaped the cookies by hand.. I use Antonia74 icing and it is awesome of course..;o) The colors are dark and light pink, white and brown..
This is a Grease 2 theme cake. It was a boy/girl party so the celebrant (a 13yr old girl) wanted something that everyone would like. So I came up with the motorcyle witha Pink Ladies jacket across the seat.
These were actually for a 1st birthday. Her Mommy wanted a holiday theme. At the top of the stand there is a mini cake with a huge gingerbread girl. I made white ane choc. cuppies and topped tme with cream cheese icing. The decor are fondant monogram trees, sanding sugar snowflakes, candy canes and gingerbread girls.

I wanted to give the pleating a try. I think 3 colors is too much and makes it so busy, not to mention the flowers were a little over the top. It is kinda cute, but maybe next time I will be more subtle.
This is my sons entry to his schools cake decorating contest at their festival. He is entering the Halloween category. He is 6, so I had to help with the fondant (ie. he rolled it and I layed it on). He painted the eyes and mouth holes and gave the little guy stiches..LOL. I just bought a plastic spider, couldren and candy corn and he placed them strategically on his ghost. The arms are blow-pops BTW. Thanks to mommykicksbutt for the inspiration. Can't wait for the results of the contest!!
This cake is covered in fondx. It was air brushed and hand painted. The pin-up girl is fondx. This was for my sisters birthday last night. She is into rock-a-billy and the 40's and 50's era. So, A pin-up theme was perfect for her.
