Army Tank Cake
Side view of cake. Wheels were oreos and the icing is buttercream. I made a cake in a 9 X 13 X 2 pan and cut it to size. I had a small oval serving dish and I made the turret in that and topped it all off with a brownie cupcake. I frosted the cake first in the brown frosting, smoothed it using the viva method, added green icing in a mock camoflauge pattern and also used the viva method at the end. I had fun making this cake!!

Easter Cross
Yellow cake with buttercream icing. This was my first attempt at roses. The icing was a little soft so they are not as "firm" as I would have liked but I think they turned out o.k.. I'm learning and teaching myself as I go. I was in a rush and got nervous which made for shaky swirls. :-) Oh well, my stomach never knew the difference. Thanks for looking at my cake! :-)

Treasure Chest
For my son's pirate party I made this chocolate treasure chest with a chocolate ganache icing. I used two loaf pans to make the cake and I filled one pan with 3/4 of the batter and the other with the remaining 1/4. The sand is smashed nilla wafers and the straps are fruit roll-ups and skittles. I placed candy jewlery in-between the layers to look like jewels were spilling out. It was fun to make this cake and add all the treasure around it!

Camp Out
I made this cake for my son who was leaving for science camp. All the "decorations" are edible. The trees were made from frosted flakes and marshmallows (which tasted great), for the sand/dirt I smashed graham crackers and chocolate and vanilla cookies together, mini m&m's, orange frosting and pretzels made up the fire pit and little honey grahams were the "campers". I'm just starting to learn how to make cakes so every cake is a learning experience but this one was definitely fun to make!
