I donated this cake for the "Make A Wish" gala, whose these was "Wizard of Oz". The emerald city is pulled sugar, the clock face is chocolate with sugar for the dial, shoes are chocolate, EI for the people, wand is sugar, and gumpaste flowers up the side of the yellow brick road. It was a lot of fun to make but the exception of the five other cakes I had to do the same week.
I wasn't going to post this, but I thought others might learn from my mistakes. We drove over 1 1/2 hours to deliver the cake, it was hot in the room, the cake was placed by the kitchen, and each tier was different flavors with different fillings, lots of cream and butter! We doweled and propped and did everything we could, it would not stand straight. Thanks to CWR41, I couldn't have done this without her, and she is a wonderful shoulder to lean on. This will be my last wedding cake.
We are still trying to perfect our Martini glass, but thought I would show you what we have so far. The mold is complete, we just have to figure out the Isomal part. We did do one that was perfect, but it went on a cake, and of course, we forgot to take a picture. Will post more later
