Everything that could go wrong did go wrong with this cake! Three layers chocolate cake, filled w/vanilla buttercream & fresh strawberries, iced w/vanilla buttercream and topped w/chocolate & white chocolate covered strawberries. "Mom" rolled from Wilton fondant. Sides are covered with Pepperidge Farm Pirouettes and tied with a bow to literally hold it all together.
Chocolate chip cake, iced and filled with 1/2 chocolate, 1/2 vanilla buttercream. Curls for heart were made from tootsie rolls.
Simple bunny cupcakes for Easter. Pound cake cupcakes, whipped cream cheese icing, marshmallow & candy decorations. Inspired by several pics on this site - much less fancy though.
I made this cake for my parents' 40th anniversary last August. It was my first attempt at a tiered cake, at smoothing buttercream, at transporting a cake. I used a very soft buttercream (non-crusting) that tastes like whipped cream b/c my mom loves it. In retrospect, I probably should have gone with the soft consistency of the icing and made it wavy rather than trying to smooth it. Each tier is three layers, alternating chocolate & white, filled with whipped chocolate ganache.
