Nightmare Bridal Shower Cake
This cake gave me nothing but trouble. Normally I switch to a shortening based BC during the hot weather months but for whatever reason I didnt do that with this cake. I used my normal butter based recipe and it literally melted right off the cake. Several times. I finally got the cake and icing cold enough I could ice it but I couldnt ever get it really smooth. The scrollwork is royal that I painted with silver luster dust. The dumbbells on top and the butterflies are fondant. The bride apparently can bench press more then the groom so the folks ordering the cake wanted something to hint to that fact on the cake somewhere.
My niece asked for a Hannah Montanna cake for her birthday. She gave me this crazy napkin with all kinds of weird swirls and flowers all over it that I was supposed to somehow match. This was as close to it as I could get. She FLIPPED when I brought it in :)
Olivia's Birthday Cake
My SIL's sister ordered this cake for her dd's 7th birthday. It was supposed to be for two girls. One of them wanted a garden party theme, hence all the bees and flowers. The other wanted High School Musical with lots of stars and music notes. I really didn't like the way it turned out but they loved it.
John Paul's 1St Birthday Cake
This was my son's 1st birthday cake. I made it to match the decorations we got for his party. The decorations are all MMF.
Jake And Ryan's Graduation Cake
My dh's nephews were graduating from two different schools this last May. My SIL wanted one cake for both of them. I did my best. The caps are MMF, everything else is FBCT.
Simple Shower Cake
This was a total last minute cake. I threw it together with what little MMF I had stashed in my freezer.
My SIL ordered this from me days after I had my son. I didn't have a lot of time to invest into a cake so I threw this together.
Dh's Shower Cake
My dh's work threw him a babyshower and ordered a PB cup cake for him (his favorite flavor of cake I make). I say pjaycakes PB cub cake in the gallery and tried my very best to recreate it. She helped me a lot and answered all my questions patiently. I just don't have the skills to do that kind of cake and wasn't able to pull it off though. My dh was suprised when he saw it and knew what it was but still, it looks awful. No more 3D type cakes for me.
Idea for the cake came from one of my Wilton yearbooks. Baby is MMF, everything else BC.
My Baby Shower Cake
When I saw Amylouâs contest cake in the gallery I immediately saved it to my favâs and have been begging expectant mothers to let me recreate it for their showers for forever now. I had to wait until I had my own to make it though. Thanks to Amylou for the inspiration for my cake. Her cake is way better than mine but I tried.
Little boy baby shower cake. I made the boat out of RKT's and covered in fondant. The cake and decor is also all MMF. They loved it.
Cookie Monster Cake
I saw a cake in the gallery with the cutest little SP cookie monster on top. I tried to duplicate it but I couldnât get the fur right. I gave up and used my star tip instead. Half and Half cake with whipped icing, cookie monster is partially fondant and fur is whipped icing, cookies are fondant.
I gave my daughter all my decorating books and magazines to look through. I told her to pick out whatever cake she wanted and Iâd make it. I soooooo lucked out on this one. I thought sheâd pick a giant wedding cake for sure but she went with the cake on the cover of the 2005 Wilton Yearbook. It was super easy. I had some blue mmf leftover from another cake so instead of covering the cake in yellow as the one in the book is, I did it in blue.
I was asked to make the homecoming dance cakes for a local private school. I stressed over the details of the cake because I received the order based on some awesome word of mouth from a freebie cake I gave away. I sooooo wanted this order to lead to much more good word of mouth. In the end the school just wanted the schools symbol on the cake and some reference to the dance. I made two of these cakes. This one is the strawberry so I did the borders red. I also made a chocolate fudge version that had black borders. The symbol is a FBCT. Everyone loved the cake from what I was told.
This is my niece's 6th birthday cake. I was given a plate from her party supplies and tried my best to match it. I didn't want to even think about trying to make the horse by hand so I bought one. Everything else is MMF. The top tier is chocolate chip fudge cake with fudge filling, the bottom is plain white with BC. My niece loved it.
All decorations are MMF. All I was told was that the birthday woman loved farm animals and the cake needed to be big enough to feed 15 people. I didn't have a clue what to make so I snooped around the gallery at farm cakes and saw a lot of super cute cow cakes and decided to try to do one of those. I think it came out okay, the folks who ordered it thought it was amazing.
One of the cakes my Barbie cake led to. They wanted it just like the Barbie cake except with Tinkerbell on top.
Wedding Shower Cake
I was requested to make a pink and silver cake (wedding colors) but I had no freaking idea how to make silver icing. The woman ordering the cake said black was just as good so I went with that instead. Flowers on top are real but sorry I don't know what kind they are. Bride to be loved it and this cake resulted in two other orders from that group of people.
This cake was SOOOOOOOOO hard! I never worked with color flow beyond my Wilton courses but I really wanted to do this cake in the yearbook. 4 days was not long enough for the buildings to dry and Iâve got zero patience so my fussing around with them while they dried resulted in 90% of them cracking and breaking. So that is why the cake isnât completely covered in buildings as the cake should be. The mom freaked out when I brought it in, literally fell to the floor and screamed. That was a good sign ï The birthday boy was just as excited so while I think it looks awful they loved it and I ended up getting paid more than I requested so go figure.
FBCT of Elmo. I had to throw this one together as it was a last mintue order. My FBCT didn't have enough time to freeze so it didn't all come off the wax paper and I had to freehand his middle and feet.
Little girls 4th birthday. Mom said do it super girly and mentioned the birthday girl liked Barbie. I had bought some some fondant cutters a long time ago and never got around to using them. Obviously I put them to good use with this cake.
