Bond No.9 Cologne Cake
A cake for the ULTIMATE metrosexual male!! The birthday boy is a big fan of Bond no.9 New Haarlem cologne, and also the band U2. So we combined the two, coming up with a bottle of BONO no.9 ANGELS OF NEW HAARLEM... (get it?) Cake was stacked and carved yellow cake with chocolate ganache, caramel, and candided pecan filling.

Baby Girl Microphone Gift
This was a gift for a single-daddy friend of mine who is a hip-hop artist. His mic is his instrument. :) We had a shower for him to properly equip his bachelor pad with everything he'll need to host his new baby girl overnight. He loves being a daddy! Cake was white with white chocolate ganache layers. Done using Sharon "Sugarshack's" instructions from her "Boxes and Bows" DVD. Sharon Zambito is the BEST TEACHER EVER!!! :) Gumpaste box lid, dried fondant (with Tylose) side panels. Microphone is fondant covered styrofoam ball and plastic dowel rod. Baby rattle is the same - styrofoam balls and plastic dowel rod.

Disney Princess Castle
Started with the Disney Princess Castle cake kit, and went from there! I was told that the little princess figurines were the birthday girl's favorite gift of the day....glad I could provide. :) 2 square tiers, covered in fondant imprinted with an impression mat. The castle turret tops are from the kit, but the columns are fondant covered PVC pipe. Vines and flowers piped on in buttercream

Ipod Mixer Deck
This was by far the most difficult... and most fun (!) cake I've ever done. This is a 30th birthday cake for a guy who is a DJ. It's a replica of his Numark IDJ2 Mixer board and Sony Headphones. As you can see, the cord from the headphones spells the birthday boy's name. :) The headphones are fondant covered styrofoam and foamcore, but the mixer board is just a simple sheetcake.... that was the easy part. Using the detailed photos and dimensions on the manufacturer's website, I then painstakingly recreated each and every button, knob, lever, and "thing-a-ma-bobby." I had a pretty late night last night, needless to say.

Jack Russel Terrier
Cake version of a friend's Jack Russel Terrier! Body was red velvet cake (of course, had to be gross about it) legs and head were molded out of rice crispie treats. Covered the whole thing in fondant, added some texture and airbrushed. Nose, eyes, and collar were painted on w/ gel color mixed w/ vodka.

Terrapin Station
Made this for my BIL's 30th Birthday... for those who don't get the reference, this is a replica of the album artwork from The Grateful Dead's "Terrapin Station" I modified it to make it into a birthday celebration! House is actually made of chocolate cookie and assembled like a gingerbread house. Details in royal icing, fondant, and gumpaste. Turtle figures are polymer clay sculptures, airburshed with thinned acrylic paint.

2007 Halloween Pastry Chicago Contest
This was my entry for Pastry Chicago's "Haunted Creations" contest. I won! The "Bed" is 2 rectangular cake dummies stacked and covered with fondant. Everything else is a mix of either gumpase, fondant, royal, or modelling chocolate. Pretty much everything is airbrushed. Took me almost a month, working piece by piece.

Les Paul Guitar
For my dear friend's 30th birthday. He actually cried when he saw it.... AWWWW! Fondant and gumpaste everything, neck of guitar is fondant covered styrofoam suspended on sharpened dowels hot glued to the cake board. Strings are angel hair pasta painted with vodka and higlighter dust. Attachments on the guitar are gumpaste. Airbrushed royal blue with black shading. This one was easy in theory, but many hours were spent. :)
