Lake Superior Beach Wedding
This couple was renewing their wedding vows, in a sunset ceremony at a Lake Superior beach, so they wanted the beach to look like one from Lake Superior, complete with pine trees and and rocks and boulders. The water is a bit more blue than Lake Superior actually is, but I wanted the brighter colors. The rocks are edible, made from chocolate, the boulders taste like jellybeans!

White Wedding
Larges cake I've made to date, 5 tiers! The 16" is marble with vanilla buttercream, the 14" is red velvet with cream cheese filling, the 12" is chocolate cake with peanut butter filling. The 10" and 8" tiers are WASC with raspberry filling. All covered in buttercream, and with ribbons to match each of the bridesmaids dresses.

Grad Cake
Tiered cake with the bottom tier meant to look like a high school track. I'd tried to use my airbrush to give it a pebbly look, but it ended up a solid red (sigh-I need more practice with the airbrush). The center tier had an edible image wrapped around it, to give the silhouettes. There were also supposed to be wires coming off with grad caps, to look like they'd been tossed off the cake, but I forgot to add them before taking the pics. Top tier was a grad cap made with half the ball pan, and gumpaste mortarboard. The graduate was worried about people "eating his face" so the track pictures of him were edible images stuck to gumpaste placards so they'd be inedible.

Rah Rah Rah
Cheerleader Cherry cupcakes, frosted with buttercream to look like pom-poms. I had specially purchased some white chocolate covered pretzel rods to use as handles, but when it came time to decorate the cake, I couldn't find them. Hubby came to the rescue, running to the store to buy the pirouline cookies. Later, I discovered that our petsitter ate them, while we were gone for a weekend trip!

Argyle And Stripes
This cake was done for a 10 yr old's birthday. The mom was referred to me by another local home baker who realized she wouldn't have time to do this. The mom in her first email to me said she wanted pink, purple and green with argyle and stripes, and sparkles and bows, just like the first baker designed. I had horrible images in my head, but luckily, the other baker and I have a good working friendship, and we refer customers back and forth all the time :) The other baker was kind enough to share her design with me, While I feel the cake is very gaudy, it turned out well, and the family was happy with it!

Bride And Bridesmaids
Cakes done for a bridal shower. Each bridesmaid was a different flavor, chocolate, raspberry lemonade, and white almond. The bride was done out of a coconut cake, covered in buttercream, and cornelli lace. Believe it or not, the real bridesmaids dresses (and I'll be wearing one, come September) do have ruffley gathers on the bottom half! I was excited to do the doll cakes, because I've always wanted to, and with 4 (now teenage) boys, I've never had the chance. Also had cake truffles available for noshing on.

Wedding Cupcakes
I traveled to N. Carolina to do these cupcakes for a friend's wedding. Baked them all in a small hotel oven with one rack, big enough to bake only 1 tray of 12. Luckily, I only had to make about 75 of them :) The different types of flowers denote the different flavors of cupcakes. The roses were for chocolate, filled with a peanut butter filling, the dogwoods were white almond with a raspberry filling, and the tiny flowers were a lemon cake filled with raspberry filling as well.

Brush Embroidery
They really know what they wanted, they said just a cake with Happy Birthday Nancy. I didn't like all the white space that would be on such a plain cake, so I thought I'd experiment and try brush embroidery. I'd not done it before, and since I was doing the cake as a favor, I figured I would give it a go. Everything's buttercream.

Creepy Crawley
Spider cake done for a birthday. Cake is vanilla with green jimmies for spots. I hollowed out the inside of the cake and filled it with green tinted lemon curd, so when the cake was cut spider "guts" would ooze out. Legs, eyes, and fangs are made out of fondant (the legs have gumpaste added to the fondant for firmness), and the spider's body is frosted in butter cream.
