I made this cake for a friend's daughter's 5th birthday. The mom requested a maypole cake with girls dancing around it. I tried to use Cakes by Nancy's idea for the ballet dancers, still need some practice. The cakes are covered with buttercream and MMF, the girls are cupcakes with MMF and maypole is a chopstick covered with MMF. All the girls at the party loved it!
I got the ideas for this buttercream iced cake from the many like it on this site. I made it for my FIL's birthday. He was a little upset that I didn't put the golf ball in the hole. So he fixed it :) I didn't get a picture before the candles went in.
This was for my niece's birthday. I had just learned how to make the violets and was so proud of the cake. I was a little disappointed when I added the '7th' as a last minute addition since it was in the wrong place.
This was based on Antonia74's beautiful Stripes and Dot cake. I made it for my SIL bridal shower as a practice run for her wedding cake. The banana and chocolate cakes were covered in MMF and were my first attempt at a non-buttercream cake. I had a tough time getting the MMF smooth and rolling it thin enough. I did not use any dowels for support and was hoping it would not sink before it was cut:)
This was my first wedding cake, first tiered cake and second attempt at MMF. I got the idea from Antonia74's beautiful lyrics cake, though mine is not nearly as nice as hers. I made this for my SIL's wedding and it consists of a 6 inch banana cake, 9 inch caramel cake and 11 inch old fashion cola cake. Even though I was sick with stress while making it, I am so happy with the outcome and I look forward to another opportunity to make a MMF cake. Thanks for looking.
