December Berfdays Cake

December Berfdays Cake

Just got my new WBH book so I decided to try and replicate the Whimsical cake in there. Woah, there's a LOT of colours in this thing!! So this is my first WBH cake, first stacked cake, first big cake, first "public" cake (ie not for family). Hope it tastes good... WBH coffee-chocolate flavour, with crushed Oreo & whipped cream filling. Surprisingly not overly sweet. I hope the flavour of the cake/filling can combat the taste of the Wilton gel colour which is present in the icing.

Marble Fondant, Bc Roses

Marble Fondant, Bc Roses

Practice cake #3; The marbling didn't show up well, the creamy white fondant just looks a little streaked. The roses were OK for fist timers. I could have used a different colour for the leaves so they show up a little more. The bows were a little sloppy. Not sure if the consistency of the icing was an issue. It seemed smooth at the time.

First Bc Cake

First Bc Cake

This is my third practice cake only, so there's bound to be a few flaws... like I only have one tip so the piping isn't exactly amazing (still waiting to receive the set I won on eBay). I used the "upside down icing" technique which is less tricky than I expected. The sides and top came out nice and square, overall straight, no lumps, bumps or indents.
