This cake was made for a 50th birthday. Instead of the usual over the hill cake, I made an aquarium cake. My father has become very interested in these aquariums and had one of his own and this is my replica of the aquarium. The cakes are covered in fondant and luster dust. The cakes are tropical flavors, banana, key lime and mango, with chocolate buttercream icing. All the fish and corals were made of colored fondant also. The only non-edible item are the rocks which are floral foam coverd with fondant.
This cake was inspired from a cake I actually found on here. It was for a birthday, he was rookie of the year of his fire department so it was perfect. The cake is covered in store bought fondant that I colored to the vibrant yellow. The banners and other items on the cake were cut from stencils my sister made for me. The icing alphabet, found in grocery stores, was perfect and used for the red letters and numbers seen.
