Film reels for a real-movie buff. Gumpaste disks sandwich a single layer of fondant covered cake. The 'film' was printed at the copy shop on glossy paper --not edible.
For a vintage-themed wedding. The ruffled on the bottom was a challenge, but it turned out okay. The bride and groom made their own cake topper.
For this year's annual Thanksgiving Cake, I simply covered a (wonder-pan baked) cake with gumpaste autumn leaves. Simple and cute.
Inspired by a few cakes here on CC. I love the argyle look. Texture on the golf ball was made using the backside of a small measuring spoon.
Fall-themed wedding cake inspired by a photo the bride found. Gumpaste autumn leaves and homemade fondant.
6" & 9" red velvet, 12" marble. Chocolate decor is chocolate modeling clay made with Wilton dark. I also kneaded in a bit of tylose for more stability in the hot desert sun. The middle tier is similar to the design on their invitations.
My first attempt at hand-painting. I used gel color mixed with clear vanilla. It was actually easier than I thought it would be.
Vintage cake toppers. Only the pink one is real cake. So fun to do something different.
A birthday cake for a first birthday. The mother is a photographer, so the cake was being used for a photo shoot before the party.
The top tier is red velvet, while the other two are dummies. The bride chose red, black, and white for her reception colors, with accents of zebra print. The cake fit right in.
Variation on a theme. Chocolate fondant swirls with light sage gumpaste roses.
My first attempt at drapery. Candy clay mixed with gumpaste. As for the flowers? Made by God---they are real.
