Violin
I made this last year for my daughter's Orchestra Banquet. The neck is not edible. It is a raw wood piece that I bought on eBay. I coated it with candy melts. I attached the ends of the strings with candy melts to small pieces of spaghetti. Attached one end to the candy melt coated neck, pulled them taught and stuck the spaghetti into the cake. You can see part of the spaghetti sticking out. I cut it off when we got to the venue. It worked beautifully! I was so happy with this cake and everyone loved it. I am making another one this year and have used candy melts and mold material I bought at Hobby Lobby to mold the scroll part of the neck .

Petal Ruffle
My first attempt. Bottom tier is single layer 8" round. Attached petals then added the 6" cake and attached more petals to hide the bottom edge. I used 5 petal rose cutter and did not double the blossoms. It's OK for a first try. Petals were 1/2 and 1/2 fondant/gumpaste. Next time I would use all gumpaste or a larger ratio. They were more droopy than I would have liked. Thanks for looking.

Haunted House
Not a 3-D cake but more of a 2 1/2-D! LOL! It is 3-2-1 layers of cake, with the "first floor" being 3 layers, 2nd floor 2 layers and top floor 1 layer. The roof pieces are chocolate. I wish I could have added more detail but it always takes me *forever* just to get the cake frosted and ready to decorate. I also wish it could have been "cleaner" but I think the rough look added to the spookiness. TFL

Diaper Bag
Diaper bag cake for baby shower at my office. Inspired by several cakes seen here on CC. I had to ask a lot of questions about this and thanks to all the help I am pretty happy with it. Everyone raved over it and the chef who catered the party took a picture of it! I was so flattered! Frosted with ganache and covered with fondant. Brown accents are candy clay. TFL!

Wii Controllers
Wii controllers covered in fondant, edible food markers used for the details. I couldnt get an edible image of the game cover, so I printed it out and laminated it and attached it to a plaque made with blue candy melts. It is supported by a skewer inserted at an angle into the cake and into the foam core cake board, like the back of a picture frame.

Patriotic Chocolate Wrap
For a soldier coming home on his first leave from Iraq. I wish my stripes could have been neater, but I haven't done that many of these and I'm still figuring it out. Didn't have time to order a transfer sheet. But I actually kind of like that rough look. Chocolate on the board, too! TFL!

Squares With Gum Paste Roses
This cake kicked my butt! Silly me couldn't pass up a wedding cake so I agreed to do this cake. The wedding was the week end before Christmas. I have only done one other wedding cake (several years ago) so I was dying to do another! Of course, the bride wanted square cakes. I hate corners in the first place and all the tricks I know didn't work very well. My icing just didn't want to cooperate. I pulled an all-nighter on this baby. I was so glad when it was delivered and done! I bought the flowers from Pfeil & Holing.
