I entered this cake in the Decopac Little Mermaid cake decorating contest. The cakes that were entered were judged by the Disney Creative Team. I found out in October that I had won But never got around to posting the pic on here until now. T
This is a 1/2 sheet cake with a double layer 1/4 sheet on top. the jersey, ball and bat are made out of fondant. The cap is a candle I picked up at a party store and the homeplate is a Decopac Kit. The ribbons are attached to charms inside the cake for each of the bridesmaids.
I had one hour to complete this cake at the food show. The show was held at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut.
helmet was made from 5 8" stacked cakes and covered with Satin ice fondant. shield and brim made with gumpaste. logo on shield was an EI transfer overpainted with super gold dust. reflecters on helmet were cut out of fondant and painted over with luster dust. I want to thank Debbie aka thecakemaker for all the tips on how to set this cake up
the reel is a single layer 8" cake. I used fondant for the film, then hand painted. The popcorn box is fondant welded the sides with royal icing. and and painted the design.the popcorn is real popcorn.
This was done in regular buttercream frosting. I used a square toothed decorator comb to get the ridges on the front. the game is built up frosting with an edible image transfer. the wires are rolled fondant.
