The mom picked out this cake for her daughter's 16th B-day. She brought a picture that was similar but in different colors. The bad thing was when I got to their house, the power was out, so we took a picture using lanterns afor the lighting

We were helping with a surprise party for a friend and it was a slow cake week, so I figured it was the perfect time to make my first topsy turvy cake before a client asked for one. It is 4,6, and 8 inch.
Mother sent several pictures and we mixed and matched to make this cake.

They wanted a bride in full dress relaxing on a couch. I was a little scared having never done 3-D figures but looking at the CC photogallery helped tremendously!!! Couch is styrofoam with batting over it to give it a softer look and then the fondant. I am finally learning to love cornelli lace as well!!
A bride asked me for a cake that would portray these 2 different cultures, this was my attempt.
Here is how the table was set up for my son's cake. The bride saw a picture in a magazine and went off of that. I have to admit, I loved it and it faced the chocolate fountain which was breathtaking.
This design is from Spectacular Cakes by Mich Turner. It is 6,10,14,18 inc all covered in fondant with royal icing fleur-de-lis. I have never done one this large and learned tons. It is far from perfect but given I had a few other things to do that week, I am pleased with how it turned out. I do think they are the last family members I will make a cake for, especially when I have so much to do for the wedding!!

This was for an engagement party, the colors were white, silver, gold and black. I was a little unsure with those colors. I was pretty pleased with the exception of the one bad scroll that I accidentally put in the front, UGH!!
This is a 6,8,10 stacked cake with fondand and ribbon on a fondant covered board. The first tier is strawberry cake with buttercream, the second is chocolate with a chocolate custart filling and the third yellow cake with strawberry cream filling. It is actually my daughter B-day cake but I took pictures of it without the "17" for my wedding portfolio.
