Someone had mentioned in another post about using an extruder to make snakes of fondant...is there an attachment for kitchenaid mixers? Where do I get one?

I bought the Makins Professional Ultimate Clay Extruder (love it) off of e-bay and like sherrycanary62 said, you can get it from amamzon.com also. You could also check your local craft stores.

Try using a Wilton Cookie Press.

I bought a clay gun/extruder at a local craft store for $14. It works pretty well, but it's tough pushing the fondant through. It's like a cheap garlic press in that sense. That other one looks sooo much better (esp the handle)! icon_smile.gif

cakesrock, you should invest in the Makins Professional Ultimate Clay Extruder. I've only had mine less than a week but have used it so many times and for me it works great.

Thanks, Alene. I didn't even know about it - now I will! At least I'm only out a few bucks.... icon_biggrin.gif

I also have the Makins extruder. I got it at Hobby Lobby with my 40% coupon. It must be a popular item because everytime I would go there, they would always be sold out. I lucked out finally and snagged the last on the shelf.

It does not matter what kind of extruder one uses... it's always best to add shortening to your fondant to make it softer --pushes out smoothly with no "forcing" as well as extends how much you get out of it. However, as soon as you can, get a Makins. Wilton Cookie Press is great as well! icon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gif

I have used the one Tonedna is selling and now I'm buying it from her. Didn't know the stores weren't carrying it anymore. Always thought they were sold out like everyone else.

Any ways, I love it. My little red and black one that you have to squeeze works, but not the way I want it too.

And the red one works but kills my hands. This one is the best
one I have used.

I have the little red & black sugarcraft gun & use it a lot & will continue to use it for small projects but I received for Christmas the 'daddy' of all extruders (like the one Jen shows you on her DVD) & I am thrilled with it.

I got my Makins Professional Ultimate Clay Extruder at Joanns online using a 50% off coupon, looks like they carry them a bunch of places, all different prices, but the deal I got at Joanns made me happy!

My Hobby Lobby still carries Makin's Ultimate Clay Extruder. I just came back from the store, and I saw they had one on the shelf. Plus, they have 40% off coupons practically every other week.

I guess it depends on where you live... I still see them in Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and JoAnn Fabrics here in KY.
