ADayscakes, I have long cocktail sticks but then you would see them coming out from her legs, so not sure about those.

Jo, you seen as inundated as me!

Mel, yes I saw that earlier, the one she sent me is quite simple cake wise, just a square with blue trimming around, and abit of detail, but its this flipping girl thats got me as cant tell what they used, hopefully I'll figure it out.

Coil up some flower wire (use pencil to wrap around) and insert up her bum! You can see the wire but its fun I did similar with my bumble bees a few years ago looks effective.  She could have to be made from lightweight moulding paste as it'll bend too much under her weight.

AWell would you believe it I looked at that tool in B&Q the other day , there were so many I ended up with nothing, tut tut. Some were right some were wrong, too big too small, wide narrow, even asked the assistant.

Cant wait to see what your making.

AYes Mel said that about a spring, and up the bum seems a better idea at least the weight would be more centrally, excuse the pun!!

AMmm, that would mean I'd have to use a posy pick to put the wire in, yes then I can disguise it with a black circle for the middle of the trampoline, fab thats one sorted, now on the the next one!

yes Nannycook, I went in for a taping knife but all they had was huge ones and some had angles so no good.  Thought I'd give this a go. Perfect!

I bought the cake boards and ribbons today but unsure what my plan is.  I find I cant make the decision on the final detail until its all finished.  I bought a couple of meters of white, purple and silver to see how it looks but want to be careful I need it to look classy not ruined by too much colour.  So difficult - make it or kill it!

I have also kept loads of boxes back to make good travelling boxes - honestly £30 for a box is extreme and too much out of the budget.  Sure a bit of planning, glue gun and thought I can come up with a simple solution.

AOh crikey nanny! I've only got three and im in a flap! I was going to say write a quick plan for each but can see that's been said :) was also going to say curly wire but also been said! Not sure what I can add about the models as up until recently I only worked with clay so am still learning myself but if im working on a chunky clay model like the vw van I did then I model the main in foil ( compacted) and cover so not to weighty so can you substitute any part of her for polystyrene as with the centres of weighty roses? Sorry wasn't much help was I :S I will add my pics tomorrow. Got quite a bit done but sadly the headache won!

AI think Artista Soft is a lightweight modelling clay, sure I've seen it in A Piece of Cake and online? Might be worth checking out Nanny? That aside Tiddys idea of part poly bud might work, you could glue one onto the wire and maybe use it for a skirt?

Sorry to hear your still suffering with your headache Tiddy, hope your ok. Take it easy if you can, looking forward to seeing pics!

Hope you are ok too Jo, look forward to seeing your cakes!

Chasingmytail I'm the same with some cakes, I don't know exactly what they will look like until I get to the end! I'm sure it's going to look great :)

Right, off to bed, night all!

The more i think about it nanny the more I think that would work. Now please excuse the awful early morning 5 year old sketch but if you use a longer wire you could put it up through the poly into the head and coil the bottom. I think that would  then be light enough and strong enough :D

ok back to my cake  good luck!

http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/help-and-advice/helpful-advice/how-to-use-artista-soft.html This may be useful.  If you use this paste then you financially only going to buy white and paint yourself. I have never done this so no idea but when I made the balloon on shaun the sheep - the balloon was too heavy but it wasnt feasible to buy more materials.

Morning all! :D

Wow you all sound very busy.

Especially you Nanny. I have no doubt you can do them all. I have Debbie Brown character cakes book I will PM you the instructions for her Fireman Sam with fire engine in the next couple of days if you'd like them. I need to start trying some of these myself but there is only so much cake one family can eat so takes a while to get round to trying all the ones I want to do.

Lovely drawing Tiddy  hope your headache eases off and you feel better.

Chasingmytail good idea on the trowel. Do you freeze you cakes ganached and do you fill them with buttercream then ganache the outside? Do you use white or chocolate ganace for this. Also how would I freeze and defrost a whole cake properly. I'm sorry if this has already been asked in the thread before, there is so much info put on I sometimes forget what was said on here and what I've read on the internet and get a bit lost with it all. :duh:

Looking forward to seeing everyone's cakes.

Hello everyone!

Nanny what a challenging few weeks ahead but I know you can do it! I think you've got some good advice regarding the trampoline figure- that curly wire is a great idea.

AOMG Tiddy Owch! You poor thing, hope you are ok *hugs*

For white ganache I use Sainsburys basics white Choc and the green whipping cream, not double. For dark I use the regular own brand stuff again with whipping cream - good luck!

Nanny maybe make the poly bud the body instead?

ANanny yes they are :) you can get cone ones (Celbuds) but I think you can also get round ones from Craft stores etc so you could pick which shape works best.

AThanks fir the ganache tips ladies x Only I could break my finger cake decorating! Was putting sugarpaste in my little metal extruder and there was an air block so like you do I put my pinky in to push it down! Heard a horrid snap and knew immediately what I'd done :( I broke it about 6 years ago and it was so badly fragmented that they couldn't do anything with it so it just healed messed up. God knows why I did it! But in agony now and on the tramadols :S but....these cakes have to get done so am ploughing on :)
