Morning all!

Siany your cakes look great I really like the striped ones.

Natt both cakes are lovely. Olaf is spot on and the way you have done the board is a great idea it really stands out.

Nanny I keep promising my partner that I'll make him a chocolate pirate ship he's still waiting  I have a Debbie Brown book with one in if you need the instructions I'm more than happy to scan them for you.

Jo I used edible pen to do the eyes on the one and only face I ever tried, I need to learn how to make fondant figures so if anyone has any tips they would be greatly appreciated.

ASo same here any fondant figure tips welcome !! My horse seemed a little cracked I'm places after adding TYLO to be honest I think he could of been made without adding it as he was sat down. Although the other figures I'm going to be doing probably be sitting up !

Jo I rub a little trex into fondant that I've added tylo to when working with it to stop cracks.

AOK Roxylee I did do that but maybe I didn't use enough trex, I was rushing it as usual !

oh - I see!!! No one ever states on websites tips on making figures.  I have used just SP and its too soft, added Tylo then gets bitty and end up with cracks so I assume rubbing hands in Trex will smooth the SP and prevent those fingerprint marks.

When I made Shaun the Sheep I used some modelling paste (by regal ice) 50/50 with SP but this is expensive. Worked really well but not cost effective.

AHi everyone,

Jo, if you want to know how to make figures Lorraine McKay from extra icing. She is on FB too. And I use to add tylo to sp but it didn't work for me. It started cracking. So now I use 50/50 flower paste and sugar paste.:-)

AHi guys, just thought I'd look in and see what I've missed and I've been reading for a hour! Lovely cakes, I love the birdcage, I've been wanting to try one for ages.

I can't see anything wrong with the square cake, I'd be chuffed if I could cover a square one that well, I find round ones hard enough!

Natt, maybe the fact you were told yesterdays interview was going to be more formal but it turned into more of a chat is a good sign.

Tiddy, I love your toppers, I've just joined the giving you a shove queue!

Sorry if I've missed anybody out and apologies Frenchiejo for getting your name wrong.

AUmmm, I don't know, maybe pigs in mud, I'm not making myself a cake now so won't be using them and I so want to make one. But then I started thinking about peppa pigs in mud, peppa and George love jumping up and down in muddy puddes so that might work.

Hi nanny. It's a 10 inch round I'm doing. I decided against the carved cake as I just don't have time with my assessment coming up and I have I make a cake for Ellie's holy communion too.

I figured a sponge based cake was better for a bunch of 6 year olds, rather than a choc mud cake so I need a stable one that can hold decoration.

Thanks x

Nanny I have just PM you the pirate ship instructions, it is a sunken pirate ship but wouldn't be hard to change it so it wasn't sunken.

ASiany, I make my cake in 2 stages, time consuming I know but I always get good results, do you want fairly deep layers?

Im getting quite bruised now

I think my doubts are now sleeping so onwards and upwards! Been busy playing today.

Even though I make toppers from clay believe it or not ive not had much play with fondant for toppers so thought i'd have a go today and here is the result....my little welsh lurve dragon hahaha!

I also have avoided making flowers apart from the odd rose so have been playing with a spider mum today and although its not how i imagined it to look i dont think i did too bad
