I made cookies for a first time customer and doubled the batch, but forgot to double the butter! This was last Saturday they were sent out. I only realized now when making another double batch today, something hit me and I realized that I didn't double the butter last time. Fortunately, I still had some cookies, so I tasted and while they tasted, well fine, they didn't taste delicious like my normal cookies. I had my kids all try them and they said they were fine, then had them taste test with the new correct amount of butter batch today and they said, "Oh, those are really good."

I never heard anything from the customer and they were decorated beautiful, and she did order other types of cookies that were made correctly, but I feel like anyone that tried these at her party would be impressed with the decorating on them but not the taste. Am I beating myself up too much? Anyone else ever have a similar issue? I have more leftover decorated cookies I was going to give away to neighbors, but since they are "fine" and not delicious, should I just throw away all of my hard work? Ugh.

I should add that they are in the freezer.

I've done it on a couple of occasions, and didn't think three times about it. Give the cookies away, and don't waste your hard work! Your neighbors will think they are great regardless. They don't know that you forgot to double the butter.

Thanks. I feel much better about it. They were still fine, and you're right nobody would notice, unless I point it out and have them do a taste test. :)
