This seems like the right forum for this question...
Are there any legal guidelines one must follow when coming up w/ a business name?
For some reason I lack inspiration in this area, and don't have any ideas, for a brief moment I thought about using my initials (SEW) but figured most people would think of sewing -which is also a hobby of mine- but it wouldn't make them think of cakes.
Also have you ever used comment cards w/ your cakes? I thought about making some that had the postage pre-paid but wondered how many questions should I ask; should I do a 1-5 or 1-10 system (1 being the worst 10 being the best, etc.,)
Any ideas? Thanks
The first "guideline" that pops into my mind is that you have check to see if the name you choose is already in use by another similar company.
I don't do comment cards, but I add a note at the end of the receipt about a discount (usually 20%) on their next purchase. If they call, they'll tell me how they liked the previous cake.
And I keep track of all my customers, via email or regular mail. I'll send them coupons or "reminders" about upcoming holidays.
I have a good repeat business, which is not so easy when you don't have a storefront.
Oops, sorry, went off on a tangent.
Doug...that's an incredible slogan and catchy name!

Makes me want to order two different business cards -one for cakes, the other for my sewing....the sewing part I could name "SEW what?" and play off the first slogan w/ another like "Stitching together custom outfits"
