I have a two piece baby mold that I want to use for a shower cake. My question is, "What can I do about the seam where the front piece and back piece meet?" Should I just use one large piece of modeling paste and then press the two against each other? Is there a way that you can smooth out the place where they meet?

Thanks for you help.

If the baby is nude or in a diaper you can cut out gumpaste or fondant clothing to dress it and the seam won't show. Or make a little blanket to cover the baby. Other than that you can coat your index finger with a little Crisco and rub the seam to try and smooth it out.

I would just use your fingers to smooth it out, usually the warmth should do the trick ! icon_biggrin.gif

you can also use a nail file to smooth the seam down as a finishing touch, if needed. Of course its a nail file that you use especially for cake decorating.
