I am making some roses and would like to know when to add dusting colour?
I made some primroses and added the dust once they were dry. I wondered if you could advise me, I'm confused icon_confused.gif
I have several books regarding flower making, but they don't agree on the "right time" to add the dust. Some say as soon as you make the petal, others say leave flowers to dry first.
Being a novice I prefer the advise and tips given by CC members.
Thanks
Lyn

I let my flower petals dry completely, tape the wire stems with floral tape, tape the flower together, then dust with color and steam them to set the color.

I've done it both ways, but prefer to do as Shirley does. For my classes I always tell the students to let the flowers dry. This is because they are so busy remembering to soften, vein etc that the flower petal will dry out and be too hard to work with if they add another step to color.

Thank you very much for your help.
I will let them dry first. I'll also have a go at steaming them, I've never heard of that before.
It's frustrating learning from books alone, but, there are no cake decorating classes in my area.
Thanks again for your help. I'm so glad I found this site thumbs_up.gif
