It really wasn't all that. Emeril was his usual goof self when he's showcasing something he's not all that used to which was funny. Toba sorta stood to the side and did what Emeril instructed but the finished product was nothing really. She didn't do much as far as instruction and you could still see the cake through the final coat of icing!!

I think she did it only to promote her book which Emeril did a great job of constantly mentioning.

I agree...the show was nothing to write home about. Toba just stood there, did some minor decorating while she smiled. I would have rather watched her do something than Emeril! I felt badly for her.

I didn't know anything about the show! icon_cry.gif BUT............I have Toba's latest book. In fact, I've already read it from cover to cover. It's helping me to create my show cake for March's show in SD. Anyway, this book is great because it is in "text book" format. This woman really is a wonder at her craft! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

I saw that episode and had never seen Toba Garrett in action so to speak. She seemed like such a light-hearted happy person! I would love to meet her someday! That wasn't a real informative show, but it sure was fun to watch.

There are a few gals on here that have taken classes from her and they do say she is a genuinely nice person. I'd love to take a class from her for sure!

Isn't that the best kind of gift? icon_rolleyes.gificon_biggrin.gif I bought mine online on Thanksgiving. I couldn't wait until my birthday to order it. I only found out about the book from other gals here on CC the day before so I couldn't wait too long before I got mine. Don't you just love it! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

I have both of her cake books as well as her cookie book! She only has the three as far as I know. The latest book has some of the same techniques and pictures as The Well-Decorated cake.

Do you love her books? What is your favorite book that you have to date, doescakestoo! thumbs_up.gif

I've taken 4 classes from her and yes, she is a very nice person. If any one of you could swing it, you won't be dissapointed to take her class.
The way she teaches, you get it. Not like some who try to make it really hard. She enjoys sharing what she knows.

I also bought both her books , and got them last week, got them for a bairgain price at amazon, and they are really nice ans very instructional,

I also started collecting wilton yearbooks (80-2007) and cake decorating books, it would be nice to know which books are worth the money$$$ to make a nice collection
I bought in december at Barnes & Noble BEST EVER CAKE DECORATING for 7.98 I couldn't beleive it its a very nice book with over 250 pages Hardcover, I think Barns & Noble publishes the book, I think That has been my best buy till now.

That would be great! I am preparing my entry now. I'm taking a big risk preparing it up here and driving it and my two kids down there. My niece from SD is flying up and then driving down with me and driving back with me and then flying back down. She's so sweet! She didn't want me to drive by my self with the kids! icon_rolleyes.gif

This will be my fourth show and my second entering a cake!

I hope you can come out! thumbs_up.gif

cakemommy, Yes I love her books on cakes. I just went to Tulsa to get my hand cast off and found her cookie book (soft cover) at BnN. Just had to check here to see what was going on before I read it.
