ARRGH! It was -20 degrees yesterday here. Hope everyone is doing okay!

First, the hot water pipes froze. Got them working, then the cold water going into the toilet froze. Still can't get that working, so we get to fill the tank every time to flush. Finally today it reached positive degrees, so we're hoping the toilet will work again soon! Oh, and we rent, so it's not something we thought was our problem icon_mad.gif but the landlord has no clue what to do. Pipes are in the cement under the kitchen, and no way to get to them.

Gotta love cold weather thumbsdown.gif

The villagers will come after me with torches when they read this, but it has been 73 degrees and sunshine the past two days here. Don't be too envious though, we have a rainstorm coming in tomorrow and through the weekend. Mother Nature is just giving us a hint of Spring and then reminding us that it is really still winter.

No torches Shirley icon_wink.gif , I like winter as long as the heat's working! Our furnace air intake has been cloggong up with snow and we have to go out there with the shop-vac once or twice a day to keep it clear, but it could be worse!

When I lived in Yakima, Washington my gas line on my car froze and broke, and the water pipes froze. Try telling 4 kids "DON'T FLUSH!" icon_lol.gif

When we were watching the Super Bowl game, the players were getting wet, but it was what 80 degrees....

I'll take 80 and wet, over cold, windy and -30!

It's been snowing all day. Had to hurry and muck out the stalls from the last week (nothing like frozen horse poop) before the snow got too deep.

It's days like this that make me wish my DH was already retired and we were on the Cumberland Plateau icon_smile.gif

Well the kids had no school yesterday on 2/5/07 "due to extreme temperatures". My son had a long weekend due to the fact that he was sick last Thursday and Friday...so now it's taking him longer to do work in school because he has to get back into the swing of doing things. He had school today though even though he was stuck inside during recess because it was too cold to go out and play. Luckily for us nothing froze up and both of our cars started.

Mouse,
Did you watch "Everybody Hates Chris" last night? They closed his school because of a snow storm, but it wasn't until after he had left home. He and the ptincipal were the only ones there and Chris still had to have lessons.

Be careful what you hope for! Kids were out of school here due to the cold Monday, then today we got about 3 inches of snow. icon_rolleyes.gif

At least it's above zero! Exactl 1 degree right now icon_lol.gif

No kidding, Zmama...ask and you shall recieve...IT'S SNOWING!!! They're saying less than an inch and it's supposed to be 44 degrees tomorrow. Our snow never sticks around for long.

Hey, I'm a southern girl. As far as I'm concerned, 20 degree weather should be against the law. icon_lol.gif

Our average lately for the highs has been around 20. That doesn't count wind chills. Today got up to 56 degrees. YAY!! Yesterday was 20 something and tomorrow will be back down to the 20's. It sucks! icon_cry.gif I loved today. We have had horribly cold weather for the past few weeks. It snowed here a while back and it's been so cold it's not melting. Some of it melted today but not much. It's supposed to be cold for at least another week. The only good thing about this cold of weather is it kills off all of the bugs. Maybe the mosquitos won't be so bad this summer. Oh well hopefully spring will come soon.

Ya Sweetness want it great today. We got to I think like 48 today. icon_lol.gif We also went throught the cold snap over the weekend with the sub 0 and wind chills. I think the one night was like 20 below with the wind chill. And the weather just kills me. Because I am fighting this Bronchially junk. And when it is that cold out I can't breathe icon_cry.gif So today I thought ok it is pretty nice I will try to go chip away at the ICE that has been here since the 1St of the year. But had to stop cause I started weazing. And it wasn't that could but the pounding on the ground and breathing the chilled damp air got me icon_cry.gif AND tomorrow we dip back down again with possible snow flurries for the next week.

I WANT SPRING NOW thumbs_up.gificon_lol.gif

sweetness unfortuantly I have been battling this junk since Sept. 3 rounds of antibiotics 3 inhalers. And I have to go back for some more tests this week. And it is going to get cold again icon_cry.gif So I do stay in as much as possible and if I do go out I cover my mouth and nose. So thank you for the well wishes.

I'd kill for 20 above weather right now, we aren't going to see about 0 until Friday or Saturday according to the weather reports and then it's still going to be -17 or so for a low.
My inlaws had to call my husband Saturday because they weren't bright enough to plug a vehicle in the night before and could't get anything started. icon_rolleyes.gif It kind of pissed me off because my FIL grew up here and they've both lived here for over 30 years so they should know better instead of making my husband go freeze his butt off.

There's a cord hanging out of the front of my vehicle, I plug it into an extension cord if I know I'm going to need it when it's really cold an then I know I can start it.

break out the bathing suits, we had a high of 14 today icon_lol.gif That's actually warm considering the rest of the week we have had. I'm hoping tomorrow we'll make it to at least 20 or 25 degrees.

we've been getting the bitter cold here too. Not much snow at all, but last night our heat went out and with it our hot water, let me tell you it was very nippy getting dressed this morning, but at least the kids didn't have any problem with going to school today. They don't close schools here for the cold, sometimes they will be late if they don't plug the buses in they will have a hard time getting them started. They will only close if its cold if they have a heating problem in one of the schools. Otherwise its snow days, and at the rate they are going there aren't going to be any of those this year. Usually we are sweating out whether they have enough to get through the season.

"cleaning your house when your children are young is like shoveling your sidewalk in the middle of a blizzard"

You know Peg I am going through that right now. It's not going so well. thumbsdown.gif I did a total overhaul of my DD's room and it's taken me 3 days to make a dent in it. UGHHH!!!

As for the weather...we're still having the same cold weather. It's not going to get warmer any time soon. Maybe one of these days we'll get above freezing.

School was late every day this week, they called last night to let parents know. The rest of the schools around us are opening at normal time but I think ours did this because they have so many on buses, there are about 1600 kids and the majority ride the bus.
