German Chocolate Cake?

I am going to make a german chocolate cake for the first time and when I was reading the directions it said the melt the chocolate in 1/2 cup water. This may be a silly question but I want to make sure that I read the directions right. Was I?

Not sure what recipe you are using but my German Chocolate cakes that is made from scratch calls for melting the chocolate in 1/2 cup of water, stirring until smooth and then add to the batter! I put the water & chocolate in the mirco for about 1 minute, stir and then another 30 seconds and stir! Hope this helps!
