So I made a batch of chocolate clay last night and I it was awsome for making roses and decorations. The problem I had was when I wanted to roll it out to cover a cake it was extremly difficult. I used the candy clay recipe which was 10oz candy melts + 1/3 cup Light Corn Syrup. I let it sit for about 2 hours which made it a pain to loosen up again. Which brought me to my next struggle of the evening, it started to get very sticky. I had to roll it out on wax paper. I found it pretty difficult to roll out but when I did it was still pretty thick a little over 1/4 inch. Please help?

Did you use crisco when you rolled it out and kneeded it? I have covered two cakes with it and haven't had a problem with it yet. Try crisco, just like MMF! Good Luck

I did use crisco but it seemed to absorb it so fast. Do you think it could because I use dark chocolate melts, I don't know if that makes a difference now that I'm thinking about it.

I was reading somewhere that you can use cocoa powder or cornstarch on your rolling surface so that it won't stick just like mmf. I haven't tried it but I will next time because mine did stick when I rolled mine out also and I used crisco on my board. I had to use a putty knife to lift it off the board which worked fine but time consuming.

Good Luck and let us know if you try the cocoa powder or cornstarch if it works! icon_smile.gif
