Hi Pamela-
Welcome to Cake Central.

I know that you are looking for decorating the outside of the cake to look like a zebra, but I have a recipe to make the inside of the cake look like a zebra.

This recipe is a little different (maybe from another country) but what I normally do is make 2 cake mixes - one white and one chocolate and I layer them into the pan according to the directions listed on the link. It does make a cool looking design.

Here's the link:

Hope this helps a little bit.

Are you planning on a 3D cake or a sheet cake? With a sheet cake you can do a fbct. Find a cute cartoonist zebra to make the fbct with. HTH!

I just searched galleries for zebra (a true sign of a cc addict) -- and anyway there were a few with actual zebras but a lot more with cakes decorated with zebra stripes. You could also search horses and get ideas from that (just give it stripes) -- good luck!

I know that Wilton makes one.All you would have to do is stripe it instead of making it a solid color.

I have also done a jungle theme before. Just frost the cake green and use brown sugar for sand, piping gel for a watering whole and some palm trees and then buy some zebras to place on the cake. Wilton also has Zebra sugar decorations that are pretty cute that you could use on the sides of the cake.

I suppose the ideas are endless. icon_biggrin.gif

TrisCorey I love that idea!! Since I'm a cookie fanatic I'd make zebra & palm tree cookies to put on it icon_biggrin.gif but I love putting cookies on cakes icon_razz.gif

If what you want is a 3D zebra, and you have access to a Standup Lamb Pan, I would use this to make the horse and decorate as a zebra. I have a unicorn using this pan in my pictures. Many people have used this to make horses and other animals, it would make a great zebra.

I have the instructions to make this pan into a horse or unicorn just PM me your email address and I can send you the directions.

Hope this helps
