I will be making a castle cake in about two weeks and I would like to make the towers out of cake. I have been thinking about making them in soup cans so they are round in shape. But my hubby keeps telling that isn't good bc the toxins are still in the air when in oven! Does anyone have any ideas for the towers?

I'm making a castle cake too and decided to use the soup cans as a mold for RKT and use them for towers.

HI.

I would bake your cakes, and take a cookie cutter the size that the terrets need to be and just cut them out. I know it will be a little work but it will work well. I usually cut mine while the cake is frozen and then stack, dowel and crumbcoat before it thaws. You can even stick them back in the freezer again if needed to decorate. Worked well for me last time.

Good luck

I haven't tried it, but in an ACD email they suggested making towers out of Oreos. If I remember correctly, they stacked the Oreos and put a dowel through them.

Obviously if you do this method, the towers will be 'skinny' - but that could work if it's proportionate to the cake.
