Don't be too envious!! It is a semi working trip. My SIL has dogs she is showing and my son is training to be a jr. handler. Guess who is the grunt???
We will have a little down time, so I want to take him out and about.

I love dog shows and I always wanted to go to NYC. If I think of something fun for you to do I will let you know. What about the statue of liberty? I would have to go to Macy's in Manhatten, that is just me. My SIL went and took a double-decker buss tower of Manhatten. She was only there for a day and she said she got to see a lot of things that way, you might want to check into that! Have fun!!!

Justducky- I've only been to NYC once but we just had fun walking around Manhattan. We saw Central Park, Times Square, Rockafeller Plaza, St. Patricks Cathedral, etc. There's so much to do you can't go wrong with anything you see! Have fun!

Pinknlee_ I saw that you are from Lincoln City, Oregon...I am so jealous!! I love that place/area. My DH and I have been there several times and dream of when we can go back to stay. We always visit Cape Perpetua when we are out there...again I am so so so jealous! icon_wink.gif

Hey! Alot of the things mawagner mentioned aren't too far from where the show is. There is tons of things to see in Times Square alone, and if you get to go to the Empire State you can see everything from the top! There's always shopping, although I'm not sure your son will be into that.

Try this link, it tells about what to do, and people talk about their trips

Mawagner- Lincoln City is great. We had snow on the beach this winter! Very pretty. I love Cape Perpetua, we go there a lot on a day trip! I love how the internet makes it a small world! icon_wink.gif

I loved NYC. The double decker bus idea is great. We waited too long to do it. Do this first because then you can learn where you want to go. I'd recommend going to the Statue of Liberty. It was interesting and we did go up, but I don't even know if you can now. I said I would never, but I did and loved it. We ate at "The View" Restaurant, which it is on top of the Mariot Marquis in Time Square. It is a revolving restaurant and expensive, but maybe you'd get coupons!!! Kind of place with a bathroom attendant that actually helped me after I was done and everyone else seemed to enjoy her help. I just laughed! You can see a great View and the food is WOW! Of course shop at Macy's!! Make sure to go downstairs there also. It is about 9 stories. See a broadway show! Go to the Soup Nazi's Soup Kitchen, you'll find out the location on the bus tour. We wish we had visited the Today show and gone to a comedy club. Don't know about the age thing! Ask people from there where to go also. As for cabs...Mine kept getting scarier as the week went by, but walking was great exercise! We did go in the winter also. Last thing, Time Square is great at night.
I'd visit the memorial also. Have a great trip!

Hi,
I'm from Long Island and went into NYC all the time.
If you tell me your interests or areas of the city (Little Italy, chinatown, SoHo), I can help you out.
Starve yourself for a week beforehand...there is so much awsome food to eat!!

Definitely try to see a Broadway show, The Lion King was amazing, I actually cried!! (but I also cried when I saw the movie). You may want to go to Madame Tussaud's wax museum, Toys R us in Times square. There's so much to do in NY, have a great time!
