I made rolled fondant for the first time this weekend, using Toba Garrett's recipe from this site. i've never tasted fondant before, but this was so sweet that it wasn't enjoyable. did i make it wrong? is there some way to make it a little less sweet?

I think I heard somewhere that almond might cut the sweetness, but vanilla will make it seem sweeter?

Not sure if this is totally correct, but I know someone told me that along the way!

I have made that recipe and honestly, it's going to be really sweet either way. Some people like MMF, but for me it all tastes very similar. I used almond the first time I made Toba's recipe, and I didn't care for it because I don't like almond flavoring. So I tried making it with just vanilla flavoring last time (It didn't need to be white); and it tasted pretty much the same to me, minus the almond of course. I think fondant is an acquired taste! I've heard people use lemon as well, and I think I'll try that next time.
