hya there. 
I believe the batch of MMF yields about 5 pounds, which should be enough to cover a 6" and 8" round cake, with a few scraps left over, maybe even enough for another 6". Hope this helps some.

one pound of marshmellows...2 pounds 10x sugar...that's about..3 pounds of fondant..
that's enough to cover a 14 x 3 inch cake..
that's enough for 2, 6 inch cakes and one 8 inch cake.

it tastes like a marshmellow without all that air..lol. I don't know I just made it and haven't worked with it yet. There are many answers to your questions..just put "MARSHMELLOW FONDANT" in your search box.
I do know that it's easy to make and that it's much cheaper to make, so it's a great "practice" medium.
