I am using a mirror as a cake stand for a 4 tier wedding cake next weekend. I will be assembling the cake on site so it won't be moved at all once it's on the mirror, do you think I need to put it on one of those thick cake circles first? (I can't think of what they're called... the double thick cardboard cake circles we all use for wedding cakes)

I am just worried about it showing and looking tacky icon_confused.gif what do you think?

If you're not going to move the cake, it should be fine. The mirrors I've looked at aren't thick enough that I would trust them for moving cakes, but if you're assembling on site, it shouldn't be a problem.

IMHO!!! I always put my cake tiers on either cardboard or plasticore circles. You can "anchor" that circle on the mirror with a dollop of BC for glue. It's just a more professional presentation I think. Also...to really clean the mirror glass, you would need to use an ammonia based product like Windex or the equivalent. Don't think that's a foodsafe idea......I could be wrong. GOOD LUCK!

Definitely put the cake on a board. When the cake is cut, you don't want the knife to come in contact with the mirror.

Perhaps it might be possible for the mirror glass to be cleaned with a water and white vinegar mix - which is highly effective and food friendly. I use this mix on all my mirrors and windows as it is environmentally home friendly.
Just an idea.
